Why not wait two or three weeks and just pick the best photo you've taken this month? Aren't we (in theory, at least) supposed to be trying to make every frame the best shot we've taken this month? |

I have an idea:
Fresh snow (3-4 inches), low fog, sun peeking over the evergreen treetops, horse sweating steam while trotting through a field of mown hay toward me, parallel to a split-rail fence that runs at an angle, disappearing into the fog. Five f-stops of light from the shaded part of the horse to the sky immediately around the sun. Catch-light in the horse's eyes, steam from its flared nostrils.
If I can't find that, I'll have to find something else. If any readers find it, go ahead and take the shot, I'll give you at least a 7, and with excellent focus, a 10.

Didn't mean to imply I was setting up a shot....just lookin' for ideas General. In a month I could end up shooting lots of different (odd) things. |

I'm kinda bummed cause I'll be out of town for the last 2.5 weeks of the month, and won't be back till the 2nd of January. I might have access to a computer, but probably not a decent graphics app. So there's a good chance my best shots for the month will be during my trip, but I won't be back in time to use them. :( Too bad we don't have an extra few days after the end of the month to process and submit - what if that winning shot comes while you're out on the town on New Years Eve?
OK, done whining....
I'm still debating whether to put an effort into creating a shot, or just going out and shooting, and letting my eye and chance do the work. No really creative ideas so far, so probably the latter. |

Oh, and do you suppose the 6 people who have submitted so far really got their best shot in the first 2-3 days? :-) |
