Just wanted to ask if you think I'm weird in thinking that the state of mind reflects your body health..I mean I've been downright miserable this year and I've never been more sicker.. Can a person really make themselves sick?
I keep getting quirky temperature rises.. my heart starts beating at 110 pulse/min.. I think I'm going mad... mind you I'm grateful.. small compared to wht ppl are going through everywhere..
Right now I've got more then mild discomfort down both my sides in obvious symmetry.. My doctor reckons my kidneys are up to something..
I'll be going for more tests tomorrow since the doc's trial meds aren't working..
Uh.. any advice on how to deal with whatever may be coming.. It's very late at night here and I can't sleep... hurts most when lying down..

There are certainly things you can't help, however I definitely believe that you can make yourself even sicker with your state of mind. You should certainly try not to dwell upon it. I'm not saying don't take care of it but make yourself think happier thoughts in between those moments of taking care of things. If that makes sense. |

I do think that your state of mind affects your health and the healing process but when you are sick it is very difficult to be in a good state of mind so...
Find things that will make you happy and distracted so you don't constantly dwell on the negative. When we continually focus on ourselves it leads to misery...find something else to focus on.
I am not minimizing your pain or illness I am just speaking from experience. When I am miserable I find something else to think about or do and I am free from misery for a time. |

YES!, your state of mind is directly related to your physical health.
Have you ever noticed when people are gloomy they tend to slouch more and shuffle their feet when they walk? It is a physical symptom reflecting their mental state. When you see someone happy, they tend to have a spring in their step...
If your mind is in poor state your body tends to follow. Have to remember the body is made up of energy, and everything goes through your brain. All the signals going into your body come from the brain.
If you smash your finger, the nerve endings send a message to your brain which sends a message back to your finger and you have pain.
I know it is ruthlessly hard, but always best to try to be mostly positive. I know it isn't easy... all to well.

It is true that being 'down' or even depressed can lower your immune system. |

Good luck with your tests. On another note, some physical problems can lead to psychological problems. For example one of the side effects of low B12 levels is depression, among many other things. And while I do believe that your state of mind can affect your physical health it can work the other way around too.

Diet can lead to issues too. Deficiencies in vitamins and minerals, excess sugars, they all impact the body. Might be something to keep in mind and ask the doc about.
I hope that your tests let them know what's going on, and that you're back on your feet and feeling well again soon!

Whew! Now that you know the root cause the doctors can take care of the problem and you can now focus on getting better. I understand where you are coming from - Not knowing, worrying, and the pain level you were describing as a 9 are terrible stresses. Glad to know you are getting the care you need. I hope you have a speedy recovery. |
