Does anyone else get annoyed when their Critique Club comments aren't marked as helpful? I'd understand it with comments that are short and to the point, but if someone gets a half page rant at least attempting to cover a large number of aspects of the photo, then doesn't seem to find a word of it helpful, why did they want a critique in the first place?
*grumbles*
(not really grumbling too much - I love doing critiques. But it'd be nice to do them for people who appreciate them) |

They may not have seen the comment yet.
Though recommended that the critiquer send a quick note to the photographer when the critique is done I put some responsibility on the photographer to check whether they received a critique club comment in the past week on an image they requested one for.

I do try and send a message...
Though, to be fair, people new to the website often don't notice the 'helpful' box to start off with. And I did also get a nice reply from an Italian lady whose photo I critiqued thanking me for the message but saying she doesn't speak English...
So, yeah, there are various reasons. I just felt like grumbling anyway.

Also consider there are people who just don't use that checkbox. |

i'd like to see an extra checkbox during photo submission, where if the box is not consciously checked, then that photo cant be commented on...
[x] yes, i'd appreciate comments on this photo

Don't waste your energy being annoyed. Many times I check the "helpful" box, only to find it unchecked the next time I return to the page. I think after you check the box, if you hit Enter, it stays. So far, that seems to work, but I don't always remember to do that.
Now I guess, after re-reading my opening comment, above, I think it's kind of annoying. :-) I didn't mean it to sound that way....I do know what you mean. That checkbox sort of feels like an acknowledgement of the usefulness of the comment, and for me, it serves as a thank-you. I just wanted to say that it's not always intentionally unchecked.

Ah, that's fair enough. The mysterious ways of computers.
lol crayon, I just had a look at the one and only photo taken with the Mattel Barbie Digital Camera - very cute, and it really goes with that comment :) |

Whew... I saw the title and thought it was going to be a thread about pets you hate. I'll put the dogs back into their crates.
;D

Really?! Oh wow! :D Oh, that's really exciting! I've been staring at those things longingly on other people's profile pages :)
Ok, that brightens up late night exam revision, thanks! |
