Yay! my new D100 prize has just arrived - out with the old Oly and in with the new Nikon ;)

It also came with a lense, and I wondered what it was like as I can't find it in any shops..

It's a 28-100mm f/3.5~f/5.6G

Any ideas? Is it worth keeping or trading in?

I found that lens at B and H and it had a list price of 89.95. Probably not the best lens you could use. With my D100, I use the 28 to 85 for general use and it is razor sharp! I love it.

If the lense is a Nikkor, I'd keep it. Unless you already have your stable of Nikkor's accumulated. If so, then trade for something else you want.

Congrats. I hope to grow up to a Dslr some day. Maybe the D70 will be the one?

CONGRATS ON YOUR CHOICE AND WELCOME TO THE D100 CLUB! Not familiar with that lens. as flash said if Nikor I would keep it. I also use the 28mm 85mm lens and if you take a look at my profile you can see the luck I've had

Have fun!

The lense that I think will best take advantage of some of the D's potential is the 17-55. With the 1.5 multiplier that runs smack into a "real" 26-83 which would be phenomenal for a general use lense. Short of the funds for this particular item, then the 28's are close to the 38mm which for years was the "standard" starting focal length on zooms. The advantage of getting to an actual 28mm, is it's replication of one eye's view. (Close one eye, the view remaining is essentially equal to a 28mm on a 1:1 ratio camera).
