We are looking for 4 more Ladies to make a DPL team. This is not first come first picked. As many as interested may reply to me privately or leave your name here in this thread. We will be making a final decision and announce the team within a week or so. After the team is announced then we will democratically vote to pick a name. Everything on the team will be fair and voted on, no one member will be making team decisions.

What we want to accomplish:

- Having a private thread here or we will make our own place to chat and share images, so that we can discuss entries before challenges and just be there for each other in general.
- Help each other by offering image processing tips before entering challenges.
- Help with titles and all the other things we struggle to achieve on our own, you will now have 6 others to help you!
- Help choosing that perfect photo, don't be in the "Outtake Thread" after a challenge saying "I should have entered this, or this one might have done better".
- Bring our overall individual AND team score higher through the help of our teammates. We aren't looking to beat the guys with 20 blue ribbons, beating ourselves and our average score IS Winning!
- We are looking to be a REAL TEAM.

ALL we ask of anyone who wants to join is that they enter at least one challenge per week and the free study. If you need inspiration, thats what we will be here for.

On a personal note, I'm excited. I know since I met a certain person here on DPC and started to chat privately with them and they began to help me make those tough decisions, I became more confident and learned so much more. Then I read about WPL (DPL) and thought, wow, imagine how great this would be with 6 other people! How much I could learn! I hope you get the same feeling...

WOMEN ONLY..... Girls Rule, Boys Drool ;o)

I really don't think it's ethical to be sharing challenge entries before the challenges and doing all the other stuff you want to do, like help each other pick the best one to enter, process and name them.

In fact I do believe the helping each other process your photos is against DPC rules.

I don't want to start anything but I think this is why some people have a problem with the WPL.

I do not believe other people are doing it. In fact one team has been extremely vocal about it not being alright.

No. Not true. I know of at least one team that shares nothing before entering.

That said, if that much information is being "swapped" it would be only fair to abstain from voting on those entries.

This rule is only in the DPC rules for the FORUM, unless I am misunderstood. I do not see it in the Terms of Service or anywhere else.. I've talked to other WPL people, and this is happening, this is why I decided to join the WPL... to learn, to advance, and we do that by the help of others. We would of course not be voting on each others entries. Its not ethical.

FORUM Rule #2 "Please do not discuss specific challenge entries or outtakes until voting has ended. Doing so can affect voting and commenting, so please save these discussions for after the end of the voting period. Please report any posts discussing these, and do not reply to them. Outtake threads posted early will be removed."

That is for the FORUM. What we do away from here is and should not be monitored.

Also, I never said we would help process others photos, I meant we would simply offer advice on processing.. like dodge that sky more, or clone out that hair, sharpen a bit more.. etc..

While it may not be specifically addressed in the TOS, I truly believe it be be against the SPIRIT of the site.

team members can't vote on each other's images anyway, but use your own ethics and good conscious to know where the line is between supporting each other and doing each other's processing or image decisions.

I've not been involved much in the competition or following the teams.
I assumed that there was a lot of sharing and voting on entries going on and chose not to enter into the challenges (because of this and other reasons). I do think it would be hard to define the line. It makes me feel a little bit better knowing that they can't vote on each others entries. Is it impossible due to site restrictions or just not permitted on an honor system??

right now, honor system, though voting has been monitored closely, as of late. There has been talk of blocking teammate's voting in future rounds of dpl.

Thanks for the clarification, karmat.
That "little bit better" that I was feeling is gone now. ;)
I vote for blocking teammate's votes.

In all fairness, I would vote for this too.

I would too :)

I think it's important to help your teammates, (and friends) but if you've seen their picture, then you shouldn't ever vote on it.

I sent you a PM.

I would vote for the block too, not only is it unethical and unfair, its also not helping anyone, which is what DPC and hopefully DPL is/will be all about. I'm not joining DPL in hopes of being the best Team, like I said in my initial post, improving my score by improving my skills is what I am after here. As far as what frisca said, I agree 100%, she couldn't have said it better.

What I mean by offering advice, processing tips, etc.. is exactly what we see during voting, comments. I just want those BEFORE entering, from just my team, my 6 homegirls. And I would never vote on their entries or want them to vote on mine. I would never process anothers photos and I would not want anyone touching mine. What I enter for a challenge will Truly be MY image. Thats it. Now thats not such a big deal is it? I think everyone just jumped the gun here...

I agree. Team members should not vote on their teammates photos if they know about them before hand. If they don't know about them before hand, which there will be times they don't, then there shouldn't be a problem. I personally, if on the team, will not vote on my teammates photo if I know which one is theirs. That is only fair.

Why do you feel you need this imput? Your average is a whopping 5.6 and you have won a ribbon already. I have entered over 110 challenges and my average is a measly 5.1. So even if I wanted to say sign me up, you wouldn't because I would not help the team, I would simply bring it down. So that is why I don't join teams. I would be rejected on all levels.

Wow, I just checked your portfolio. You really have some nice photos and your average score does not reflect that.

This started with 3 original members looking to add 4. I received 12 PM's. Within this past week two originals dropped out and 6 out of the 12 removed their requests. Even though this still leaves enough for a team, I just can't do this. I am a commited person and once I give my word to something I try my hardest to make that a succesful thing. I want to be part of a team of DPC'ers who actively participate in all aspects of DPC, not just drop in for a challenge once a month. I've asked to join another team, and I hope I am allowed to join an established and commited team. But the short of it is, those who are still looking and sent me PM's, Good Luck and it was nice to meet and chat with you all. Consider this thread closed and my patience with the matter at its end.

Good Luck and God Bless,
Dana
