I have been building my portraiture skills by with some local models and the occasional friend that is willing to sit for me. Now that I'm comfortable (NOT content) with my base skills, I'm ready to start looking for paying customers for my portrait work (portraits, senior portraits, bridal portraits, etc). I spent a week of evenings building my own web site with portfolios and online proofing, but I still think my solomodels based site has more wow factor. Since the solomodels branding and URL can be completely hidden from clients, What I'm wondering now is if I should just use the solomodels based site? The only real limitation is that the order of the categories in the portfolio isn't within my control (high school senior are last).
Current site: www.davidnusbaum.com
Solomodels site: nusbaum.solomodels.com (URL and branding can be fully hidden.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Dave

I like the first/home page of the second page. Yet I perfer the layout for the complete website of the first one. Is there a way to combined the two styles into one site?

Solomodels will let me use the slider and portfolio browser as widgets, so I may be able to use them as the main page and portfolios while keeping the overall navigation and the online proofing of the custom site. This would avoid some of the quirkyness trying to do a slideshow with javascript. In the rush to figure out which is better I had not thought much about trying to blend them.

IMO that would make a great looking website which is easy to navigate. I do not know anything about web design so I didn't even know if that was possible but I thought I would suggest it. I am in the process of setting up a site also so I know the hassle you are going threw.

I think the hardest thing for me is that I would rather be shooting and expanding my portfolio than sitting at the computer writing HTML, JavaScript and PHP. I tried using a couple of other options, like smugmug and photoreflect, but I didn't like that I couldn't completely hide their branding.
Thanks for you comments, I appreciate the time it takes to look through somebody's web site and then post a response up here.
