It's kind of easy to hit the "Report Post" button accidently, instead of the "quote" button. I'll bet SC get a few accidental reports a month. Maybe the "Report Post" screen could have a red border around the textarea field, and a title above it in red that says, "You are reporting this post".

I say just move the button. Maybe to the left side or even below the author's name and camera. |

.... i hate to break the bubble here but i have never had this problem.
The report post button opens an entirely different screen. A window all of its own without the rest of posts at the bottom.
And it doesnt have a quote in the text field so, you know you did not quote anything! |

Well, for dopes like me, distinguishing the screen from the regular reply screen would be a big help. |

the whole "report post" can go when it's up to me.
I needed it once, and nothing happened. I had to PM the poster to please remove or change the comment. that is not funny.
maybe something else for the SC: report back to the reporter, why what happened and what the decisions are. much better. |

At this time, SC has no way to communicate back on a report post except by taking action (or not depending on the situation).
Some things are better reported in a more formal manner, via a ticket. The report post is supposed to be for quick things that need to be done right then and there (like for example, if someone posts a really, really large image, or if things are really getting out of hand in a thread). Things such as inappropriate comments would be better reported via a ticket.

Just wanted to add that it's not necessarily that obvious to everyone. I use IE7 and have pop-ups set to open in a new tab in the same browser window, so I don't necessarily notice when a new window is being opened, particularly when I don't expect it. |

How about a pop-up window, not unlike the one that pops up when you vote 3 or less, that asks for confirmation. "Are you sure you want to report this post/comment? [yes] [cancel]"

This might work well, But remember the window is already a popup..... so modifying it slightly might also be effective. If you type looking down instead of at the screen you are typing on ... then a modification wont work and a second popup would be more effective. Minus the first time u hit the space bar it presses the okay button. |

It's not that it's a new window/tab that really makes it obvious it's the change of layout (lack of usual buttons, submit is now "Report Post", etc), the big red bar that says "Report This Post", and lack of all the other posts. |

well, I've been here for quite a while and always thought I could report comments like this. Never needed to use it though. A small pm could've worked out, I think. |

There's now a red top border on the "report post" window... thanks! (That was quick.) |

Actually, we have had several reported posts that were obviously supposed to be quotes. If I'm not mistaken, now when you report a post, it comes up and says "are you sure you want to report this post" or something like that. I guess if you've got pop-ups blocked, though, that is probably not really useful. |

Yeah, that happens as soon as you click "Report". (I know because I just reported my own comment mistakenly made on my own picture. I'm dumb. And thanks to whoever removed it so quickly.) |
