I like number 2. I know that some say that she looks like she is eating the lipstick. I think that she has a sexy look or maybe the lipstick is good enough to eat. Depends on what look you need. |

Yeah, it means #2 is more likely to get people's attention. And that's what marketing is all about, make them stop long enough to look. Go for it! ;-)

I like #1...2 almost looks like she is going to take a bite out of that lipstick! Maybe that's why so many views on that one...a cylinder shaped object going towards a womans mouth!
Looking forward to see the final.

2 for me...
The open mouth in #2 (the whole expression) says use this lipstick and you will be sexy/sultry like me...
The #1 expression seems frumpy, like she is not quite sure of the lipstick or why are you watching me put this lipstick on.
The third shot has no lipstick canister in it...could be a lipstick ad, but we are drawn to the eyes so it could be a mascara ad as well. |

Here's my quick edit of #2:

the middle shot because:
1. She is holding the product
2. she is engaging the viewer
3. she doesn't look bored |

I figured I would post my final choice and edit in case anyone wanted to give me a couple tips on my processing choices. I tried to keep it clean but still make it pop. How did I do?

You image is too dark. Look at the shadows above eyes. It needs to be more towards high key.
These 2 are a bit too much but you get the idea...

I think it works fairly well, I personally like your picture with some shadows, but as an ad I expect to see the numbers of the lipstick showed... maybe even the names?
So that after seeing the ad I can go to a shop and say that I want "Peach no. 9".
And I was confused by the different sizes of the lipsticks: do they sell different sizes? If not, I think it would be better if they were showed all the same size. |

My wack at it -- taking it to a different level more focused on the design rather than the photography. Obviously the technical aspects of my editing aren't perfect, it was just an idea for some other interest to add to the shot.

Edits around the suggestion of Nikolai. I feel like they really pop but it doesn't seem as real as the others. Not sure which i like better but I'm still pumped about the shot. Thanks everyone for your help.

Yes, it is nice indeed... I was looking at it as if I saw it on a magazine and seeing different sizes made me wonder if they had different prices too.
Anyway, a way to follow the jaw line preserving the real proportions may be to extend different portions of the lipsticks... |

I think that in this way the image is too light... I preferred your attempt, maybe you could try lightening it just a little bit |

Okay, you convinced me. Comparing your first and second edits, I actually prefer the lighter one! :-)

Looks really good! I like the second edit as well.
My only nitpick is with the pupils, they look blue and slighty milky,
I'm assuming that was caused by brightening the picture.
but like I said, other than that it looks great.

Good catch, I didn't notice but now that you mention you're definetly right. Thankfully an easy fix :) |
