When I search Google, I get a few hits, but I'm wary of downloading spyware.

Anybody know a good free package? I'm writing a DPC tutorial, and I'm doing okay with alt-prt scrn, but I'd like to be able to capture menus, and I haven't gotten that to work yet.

Thanks!

If you are on a mac, it has an utility called "grab".

Oh, sorry. Thanks anyway. I should've mentioned I'm using Windows XP.

Snagit isn't free but there's a 30 day trial if all you want to use it for is one tutorial.

Thanks, MK.

I know Snagit - it's great software. I respect shareware and what it stands for, though, and I have zero intention to buy it, so I'd rather stick to freeware.

Ah, beautiful!

That's what I was looking for - something that rates them and gives me some confidence I'm not about to download a virus.

I'm excited about getting this tutorial together - been meaning to do it for months!

paint shop pro always had a nice screen capture that would let you actually chose what on the screen you wanted. Haven't used it in a long time so not really sure if it is still there.

FastStone Capture is quite good, and Gadwin PrintScreen is not bad either. Both seem to be clean.

I love HoverSnap. It's free and clean. You can capture the whole screen or select a part to capture.

Dont forget to use ctrl prnt scrn. One does whole shots the other does just the active dialog.

Todo a full screen capture on windows you only need to hit print scrn i forget wether ctrl or alt is dialog only one is one and the other is the other.
