Hello! So here it is -- my inaugural post. I've been lurking for the past week or two and am impressed by the talent I see; I think (hope) I have some of my own to share. That is, of course, with a little guidance...which is why I'm here now.
My camera and software are dated. I have an Olympus C-3000 ZOOM. I'm about to order the C-7000 ZOOM. I don't have long term plans for it, but it will get me a bit more current while I save up for and decide on something nice. My software (again, for now) is Paint Shop Pro 7. Can't afford Photoshop, but it's probably more power than I need right now, as I'm still mastering the basics.
Which brings me to my post. I'm just starting to get into more advance post-processing (probably still very basic by most of your standards, but it's all relative, I suppose). Here are some before and after pictures of my sons from a year or so ago. This time I skipped the automatic saturation adjustment and adjusted the colors manually using different adjustment layers (is that how most of you do it?). Then I applied an unsharp mask with what seemed like some reasonable parameters (didn't stray far from the defaults). Anything else that I should do? Or could do better?

Any comments or advice would be great. Thanks!
