Will someone please shed some light on why this had no comments and only ended at a 5.0???

I hope this does not come across as rude...

Your score is, by far, the most important comment you will ever recieve from DPCers. It is rare that someone with a so called high score, by DPC standards, will ask what is 'wrong' with their image. It is common that those that do get a low score will ask, just like you have.

This is a guess but I suspect you are concerned that your image met the Contre-Jour challenge but failed to get a high score.

Big deal, just because your image meets the challenge does not necessitate a good score. That never has and never will be prerequisite at DPC nor anywhere else in the 'real' world.

First and foremost, you must submit a great image to get a high score at DPC and also to get acceptance in the 'real' world.

Outside meeting the challenge your image has little photographically for viewers to grasp onto or love, that is why it got a below average score of 5 at DPC.

I agree the it does not deserve as low a score as a 5, but that is a different issue all together. DPCers give low scores as a matter of habit, not because they actually deserve them.

with my extremely moderate experience of one and a half challenges I can't give you an answer. Just a few points:

- I try to comment on 100% of the pictures and end up with roughly 25%.

- I don't leave votes below 5 without comment.

- sharp pictures (or soft ones that seem to be intentional) that match the challenge criteria and topic are always above 3 for me.

people that have voted several 10'000 times and made just a few hundred comments seem strange to me.

Nope, I really wasn't thinking that I deserved a high score just because it met the challenge. I realize that there are certain things that made a "great image", and I'd just like the feedback on my picture so I know what would have made it great. I am trying to learn, because I can't seem to get my scores up beyond a 5! I welcome any feedback, whatever it is. My goal is to get to the point where I can take a great picture and actually deserve a high score.

Unfortunately, images that score in the middle of the pack don't tend to get many comments, because there are so many of them. The images that get comments are the ones that are interesting in some way, either good or bad. The only recourse you have if you really want constructive criticism is to do exactly what you just did, post the image in the forums, and politely ask for help.

btw, left ya a comment.
