Aw, thanks Shez. You're a dear.
And thank you to everyone else as well.. it is infinitely comforting to have a collective shoulder to lean on. :-) Makes me feel so much better.

Very nice, Brian!! I agree that I need to work on my workflow as far as using noise reduction - I rarely use it but think that may be something I need to incorporate more often if I wish to have more "professional" presentations. And eyewave pointed out the shadow in an early comment - I hadn't even noticed it - very good catch on both your parts. As for the pole, I do know it wasn't straight, but that's due in part to lens distortion with the 10-22 - I'd have liked to have done a bit of perspective correction but not allowed in basic.

I really appreciate you taking the time to make the adjustments - thank you very much!

The pole can be straightened with the Measure tool under the eye dropper in photo shop before you crop, this is not against the rules.

Yes, that is a VERY handy tool - I think Jeff pointed it out awhile ago and I've been quite happily using it ever since! In this particular shot, I think it was the Team Suck in me that actually wanted to leave it ever so slightly slanted. :-) Sometimes I do stuff like that just for kicks. I do, however, REALLY wish I'd have cropped the shadow!

klstover, read this and see what you think. I think it could be a very good replacement based on what you've been using. As how we'll get you one, well, we'll have to work on that part! (Collective internet bake sale, maybe? We could sell recipes via email instead of actual baked goods....)

I just checked out that link and I think I'm in love. Hehe! You're right-on as to it being a good match to what I am used to, I think! The smaller size of it seems pretty darn perfect.. Reviewer said he was a little cramped but I'm like yes please, give me the lightweightness!

I followed a link on the page you just linked to. It was for something called My Product Advisor and it asked a ton of detailed questions about camera preferences. And wow, cameras from the "Canon PowerShot" series made up four of my top five!

So I am now in awe of your nifty "I know what camera you want!" powers. Hehehe! :-D

I'm a genius. Really. At least that's what I try to tell myself. Most of the times I don't listen, though. :-)

What prompted my initial search, though, was seeing what Jutilda uses. I remember from the GtG I went to before I left Texas that the camera she was using was small and lightweight, but seemed to do a terrific job, so I started from there.

Now to see what we can do to raise a few bucks here and there. Bought any lottery tickets lately, young lady? :-)

This would require a notable member in the US with a paypal account. and be approved by league of suck members, with DPC approval if required.

We could fill the cap to an approved camera cost.

If the response is negative back to the thinking room.

If Agreed I will start with hywind$10.00

Shez and Brian, you guys are awesome! I've been talking via email with Jeff - one of us will set something up. I do have PayPal but have no idea how to have someone send me money there but we'll work out the details. And great image to go with the request, Brian! I do so wish Australia weren't so darn far away; I will try to get there someday, just to meet the very good people who live there!

Paypal account is first priority - I would be a donor. If all the TS members put in just $10, we could probably scare up about $500.

I think this is a great idea, I'll happily chip in. We can't leave Kelly cameraless.

My silky-smooth is doing fairly well:

No comments - *sniff* - but it's early days yet.

My DPL rose ever so slightly, but still hangs in under 5 - 8 comments, all positive, and 3 from TSers.

Hey guys! I'm finally back home again (if a bit jetlagged), and I have some nice travel pics to load up as soon as I'm awake enough to do basic editing...

I love New York City!

Yeah, I'll have to stick around on DPC for long enough to take part the next time it comes around :)

Btw, did anything radical or exciting happen in the last 35 pages of this thread? I see we've got some cool new members, yay!

About Kelly's camera, I just want to say something up front, because we all have different financial situations: please don't feel any pressure to donate any particular amount or anything at all. The amount you give, whether $0 or $500, is irrelevant. I've been talking to a few other folks like me who have been very lucky in life, and we'll fill in anything that's needed.

I've got a paypal account, and it worked quite well for getting Jeanne's flowers after she fell, so I'd be happy to do it again.

Speaking of which, TS's generosity is such that we could easily blow right through whatever Kelly needs, and I don't want to have to figure out refunds. :)

So please hold off for a bit. Kelly, if you'd please choose a few specific options that would make you happy, and do some research as to where to buy it online, that would give me a target. Then we can tell everyone and start collecting.

Thanks!
