No, tomorrow's challenge.

I'm in for Silky-Smooth. It's been a productive weekend!

On the downside, I have nothing for Day 14 of the B&W 30-day...must get out and snap some more.

Oh, and I had a serious senior moment today - went to use my camera and no matter what setting I used, when I pressed the shutter button, there would be the initial click, but then no sound of the shutter closing. After about 30 seconds or so, it would close, and no picture would be recorded to the CF. I was beside myself, and tried everything - fresh battery, new CF card, even changed the lens, in some dim-bulb hope that would "help" somehow. Then after entertaining thoughts of sending it to Canon for repair and enduring the long separation between myself and my camera for several weeks, it occurred to me that I had, yesterday, set the mirror lockup to "enabled".

Now, I must be a bit of a masochist, because without my typing it here, no one would have ever known - so somebody cheer me up, will ya, and relate your own embarrassing camera-related gaffe (no forgot-to-take-the-lens-cap-off anecdotes, that's too easy).

I spent a full day in Las Vegas taking pictures........Without the card. I fixed it after that so that cant happen without a card in it's slot..

Figures! It will probably end up being my only high score ;P (yeah right, like I ever get high scores, LOL).

On a side note, I ran into the "you can't have your pictures" from Walgreens today. They emailed like 10 minutes before they were due to be done to tell me the order was cancelled due to technical problems. I called to see what the problem was, I thought maybe their printer broke down or something. Instead, they accused me of stealing (yes, actually accused me!) photos from a "professional". I told the guy that they had my info on file and he said he was just filling in for the day and didn't know where anything was located. Aarrggg! So, I took my "professional" release form printed on my own computer into them, re-signed their release and still had to show him the actual pictures on the card in order to get my pictures. I told him this was why I stopped using WalMart and also sent an email to customer service.

If for no other reason I would buy a Costco membership for their photo work, as for me I spend ummm lots of money there uhmm, as for their prints, always top of the line..

I don't have a Costco anywhere near me. I don't usually use Walgreens/Walmart except for rush things. I just needed some wallets for my aunt to give out today at a family thing. It was a total of 3 sets (3 different pictures of 4 each). The actual prints will come from MPix whenever she figures out what she actually wants.

I wondered why i go to bed exhausted but just realized why. I have been spending a lot of time processing some of my images for the "30 Day Black and White" challenge.

I also have been spending a lot of commenting these images.

We are now up to Day 14, and with 40 pages of images to see view and comment on, when possible.
It is a huge task for anyone.

Today, I realized I have made ony 80% of comments on these images, and some are just amazing. You must take a look. I think that is like up to 800 images I have commented on so far. No wonder I am tired at night.

Well I guess I better get back to commenting..... No need for thanks, as I really do love looking at all the images, and love to comment because I want to.....

Hi everyone. Hope you had a nice Mother's Day. We had a lot of fun as a family.

I'm writing because while I might not make it as a photographer selling my own work, it appears I might've stumbled into helping my neighbor sell her paintings!

I knew she was a painter, and our county has an art collective that displays local artists' work in various places like coffee shops and also in formal showings.

I asked whether they ever take photographs, and the answer was they hadn't figured out how to work them in. However, she mentioned how disappointed she'd been at the photos she'd taken of her paintings that she uses on her site to sell notecards of them.

I volunteered to take a crack at one of them. A little curve and contrast enhancement, and this is the email she sent me today!

Thank you so much for showing me how you can do this...what a difference. From now on I am having any painting that I want to put on my website professionally photographed. After my show in June, I would be interested in hiring you to do this and also to color correct the other paintings that I have on my website currently that were not professionally photographed. You should work up a fee schedule; I can probably throw some other artists your way, too.

Geez - a fee schedule? That'd make it sound like I know what I'm doing! :)

Great job! Way to go! It sounds like it will lead to other assignments.

Yeah, it's annoying huh? I did senior portraits for a freind at work (her daughter) and they (Walgreens) hit her with the same thing, I burned the pic's off on CD and gave them to her and she went to have them printed and they wouldn't let her have them until I signed a release. I was kinda flattered actually, lol.

The DPL season starts Monday, May 14. Reminder to DPL-OOFs, load your pre-challenge photographs into your workshop portfolio only.

Is that how we're sharing? Should I load it in workshop and then PM the link to all the team members? Did I miss a PM somewhere?

you don't have to pm your teammembers. just post a thumb on your private thread.

Ok I know I am getting older, Where do I find my private thread.

Kelli, that's way cool that you got rejected by Walgreens! I love it! That means your stuff is way good, you know....

Jack, thanks for all the comments!

Shez, I can't believe you're still commenting - I had to give it up awhile back because it just got to be too much. I still go by there and see what's posted, though, and will try to comment on at least a few as I go. I quit posting shots, since I don't think it's fair if I don't have time to comment, too.

Jeff, cool on the art shots!

And good luck to everyone on their DPL covers!
