My hopes of getting in some good shots for the Culture challenge were dashed today. If only I could get my stomach as flat as today's dismal light! Oh well, the boy and I had fun at least.

I have a pic in Symmetry that I personally don't like that much. Guess what, it is actually scoring too well. So EVERYONE, once the voting is done I could do without the congrats, because frankly I don't like the image.
Now if my FreeStudy would have been doing just a well, I would be jumping for joy. FreeStudy current at 5.49 |

Wow, Jayson, what a nice thing to say. I've been busy all day, and just tuned in to Team Suck and discovered this. Thank you for such a nice complement. You made my day.
It won't go to my head though; I just finished throwing away almost everything I shot yesterday. I thought I had some good pix, but they didn't measure up. I've become more discriminating since joining DPC. That's a good thing, but now my only entry for this week will be in Dr. Seuss. And it's going to suck. |

Greetings fellow Suckers! I've been a busy person. Yesterday I did laundry, commented on 30 or so Free Study entries, commented on a whole bunch of B&W project entries, did nine Critique Club comments, finished voting triptych and voted 1/4 of Free Study, edited over 100 pictures from the convention I was at this past week, and even managed to shoot a few pictures in the morning before tackling the above. Now to catch up on Team Suck...
Jeb, you may not have sold much, but I'm betting you'll get calls for booth assembly assistance... :-)
Lea - megacongrats!!!
Don - Reaction Club is going nicely. I try to incorporate a bit of that in my CC comments as well. So far no nastygrams...
Rob - a good day with your son beats a good challenge pic every time.
Julianne - just because a pic isn't "DPC-worthy" doesn't mean it should be tossed. I keep a lot of stuff I wouldn't put here. And should toss some of the stuff I DO put here. :-)
And along similar lines, Jayson, you may not like it, but that doesn't make it a bad picture either. |

So kind of a slow day?? LOL. WOW, if could get half of that done in a day I'd be happy...Greetings to you too!!

Hi fellow suckers,
I need some help, our camera club has appointed me chairman of a committee to plan a Big photo trip. Its been suggested that we might want to go to Jackson Hole Wy for a week. This sounds great to me but I have never been there and know nothing about it. So I was wondering if any of my fellow suckers or dpcer̢۪s that happen to read this could help with some info. Like when would be a good time to catch fall color, What all is there for photogs, any special places you might know of to shoot. Also cheap lodging and good places to eat. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Dave

Today, my wife and I had lunch with hipychik and a friend of hers and her mother. It was very enjoyable. Now I know the person that takes all those great shots. |

Did anyone else get hit with some low voting on their Free Study? I shouldn't complain, but it was sitting over 6 all week, then suddenly went down to 5.95, where it seems to have stuck.
On a funny note, I was all excited to shoot photos for cultural event, as there's a Greek festival complete with dancing, music, etc. that I've been looking forward to for weeks. Jumped in my car, drove down...to discover it is NEXT weekend. Ah, life :-) |

Heh - I've done stuff like that. Hopefully it was at least a good drive! :-)
My scores are turned off. My Free Study had recovered a bit from it's opening 5.1 but not enough to pay attention to. |

I'll answer - some of the Suckers are on DPL teams, but Team Suck as a whole or in part (ie the Team Suck teams) is not part of the DPL. You're welcome to join a DPL team if you wish. |

Okay, I found something to shoot for cultural events. Don will be proud of me, I think. I predict I will get MASSIVELY slaughtered by voters, but it actually has a point and I think it is kind of cool. |

That is too bad there really isn't a Team Suck in the DPL - I think it would really be something to see the team do well in the tourney.

TS has amazing photogs, this is true, but their vision, for the most part (hence the momentary lapse of sucking award), is outside the normal stream of thinking for most voters here on DPC. TS is meant to be a safe haven to exchange ideas and learn and grow as a photographer without the pressure to place well in challenges, at least it is for me...Love this place!
Edit for typo...

I don't really judge them on DPL standards, but I am more discriminating. E.g. I'm less tolerant of my OOF shots. I will try to sharpen them, but when that doesn't satisfy me, I am apt to toss them. (Lucky I didn't take Ode to Joy!). I still have a number of soft focus shots hanging on my walls, but occasionally, I think that maybe I should reprocess them.
Recently a friend asked me for one of my photos that was hanging at home. I gave it to her for her birthday. I then had the perfect opportunity to reprocess the shot before ordering a new one for myself. Well, I just reordered the original (no reprocessing). I don't know if I'm lazy or if the shot is good with a soft focus. Doesn't really matter.
Speaking of 'doesn't really matter', I just submitted a brown ribbon contender for Sports III because my husband and I think it's funny. |
