It's funny how so much is taking off for all of us......and I'm delighted to see everyone doing well in the real world outside the confines of DPC.

I was looking through some of my stuff from last summer and I can't believe how much I've learned and improved by being here.

I got a request today from a bodyshop manager who works with our Ford dealership to do dog portraits for his wife.

Tomorrow I go and set up for the first time at a street fair......it's called "Artisan Alley" at New Cumberland Pa's Community Day, and I'm leaving the house about 6:15 to go set up.

I'll be curious to see how it goes.

Sunday it's off to a NE Pa GTG with about a dozen DPC folks at Ricketts Glen State Park.

It's gonna be a photography weekend par excellence!

Keli, if you still have the Photoshop file with the layers, put a mask on the layer that has the "paint" filter. Then in the mask (click on the mask to make it active), paint the white lip line with black. That will reveal the original lip from the layer below.

Also, I think the painting version would be improved if you reduced the paint effect on her eyes. That could be done in the same mask you are using to correct the lip. You can make the brush (with the black paint) 50% opacity so the painted effect won't be completely erased.

edit to add:
If you don't still have the Photoshop layer file, you could use the clone stamp to remove the white line.

Greetings from Atlanta, where I'm visiting my 3-week-old niece. :)

I got some shots today of her and my sister-in-law that take my breath away, along with other good shots of Kendra and my grandfather.

I'm thinking I won't share them because at least one is probably going to be my May free study entry, but boy, am I excited about them!

Mary, congrats again - what an honor to be selected for merit!

okay guys.

i know i haven't been here in a while but i really need some advice.

my website has grown rediculously in popularity. i've gotten way more hits and requests for video than i thought i would at the onset of this project.

as a result i'm seriously thinking about doing a dvd for the site. it will contain at least six bands ( all of whom will be paid percentages from the proceeds ).

now here's the question...

i have to get a good camcorder for anywhere from 800 to 1000 dollars that can withstand the environment of punk rock shows. i need it to be very high quality but at the same time affordable.

any suggestions?

If you go into a camera / av shop you should find a load of top of the line digitial video cameras that record onto dvd, memory card or internal hard drive.

Ignore all of those.

Get yourself one of the high-end cameras that record onto tape formats. Because the tapes are old hat now, no-one wants them so prices have plummeted.

*yawn* good morning - just checking in before I head off to my nephew's wedding in Wilkes-Barre PA. Time constraints require me to head back to VA very early in the AM on Sunday, or I would be tempted to show up at the Ricketts Glen GTG that morning - which happens to be the very place my nephew proposed to his fiancee last August (and where I and my family happened to be as well that day, as part of a planned surprise engagement party). It's a wonderful park, with great waterfall views. I'll be so very close, but I simply can't stay until later and stop by - enjoy the GTG Jeb, and let us know how it goes!

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Kelli really interesting processing on the photos you posted. I left a comment on the painted one for you, which is my fave of the three.

Jeb - hope the weekend shoot(s) go well for you! And everyone else, for that matter!

This is really cool. I didn't know about this. I guess you learn something new everyday.

Check this thread

This image was edited in PS using that colormatch adjustment.

My lapse in sucking was indeed momentary - my freestudy score shall prove my suckiness in the voter's eyes - but i personally like what I did to my pic nyah nyah lol

However, considering that somewhat shocking score came on the heels of my suspension... it made me feel pretty good. I think it was the spirit of Don Ho that pulled my pic thru.

Hey Chris - good to see you around and your site is indeed getting bigger and better. Some very nice stuff there! Very glad to see you enthused about what you're doing, too. Keep stopping by when you get a chance.

Well.....I had an okay time, met some very nice people, everyone raved over my pics.....especially the 18"X36" one of the girls jumping in the surf and sold......one loose print for $5.....sigh.....

The Street Gallery of Whiskey Spring Studios.

I got a lot of strange looks when I showed up with my pile of boards and a cordless drill and threw the display together in 20 minutes.

Oh, Bob....Love that house! Reminds me of this one I took during the "Where I Live" project.....

I wanna learn how to do tone-mapping....I think both these house would look frabulous tone-mapped.

If anyone knows how.....go for it with mine.

I'll send a bigger file if someone wants it.

I'm going to go nap to get ready for the three hour drive tomorrow morning to get to the GTG.

I'm sunburnt and tired.
