Playing with bubbles sounds like far too much fun to miss out on. I have a plan too :)

I did have a plan for kitchenware, but depends on the availability of me and the model I wanted between now and Sunday...

I am quite uninspired by the current challenges. I have an idea (suck at it's best) for Kitchenware, and thought I would try to see what I can get for Rule of Thirds. Not feeling bubbly right now.

You could shoot an insect residing on a piece of kitchenware, next to a sink full of bubbles, making sure to have the insect on a rule of thirds. And shoot in landscape format. :-)

What, not even if it gives you an excuse to buy a bubble machine? Or open bottle after bottle of champagne in an attempt to get an action shot of the cork exploding outwards? My flatmates even suggested using a hula hoop to make a water bubble around a person...

Bubbles are great :)

Thanks, all, for the premature congrats on my Insect shot. I am hoping for a new PB, although it will knock "Grief" off my top row. I'll just have to put it on the bottom row, because I'm not tired of it yet.

I think you may have inspired me with that idea. Enthusiasm is returning. Go Team Suck!!

Not feeling the bubbles either...work's great, b/f and I less so...I don't know if it's best to try and keep it going or call it quits now...

Currently at 4.4 or something equally sucky on Hair. Bah. Well at least the lovely Svetlana liked it!

Color and Purple, welcome to the nuthouse! My brownie recipe * quick history * I decided I wanted to get into stock so I asked TS members to criticque my portfolio and suggest pix to submit so I could get my foot in the door. Many did so, and in exchange got a copy of my mummy's yummy brownie recipe. Time passed, and I got in with Fotolia, and was so overcome by joy that I posted my recipe on that thread for all TSers to enjoy. So it should still be on old TS HQ thread - if it isn't, PM me and I'll send it on. (Svetlana says they're good with pistachio ice cream).

Oh yeah re the 6 score thingy...I care more about improving technically, so even if I get a crappy score but comments that indicate my technical stuff is OK, I'm happy. Still I would like to get a 6 at some point in time...but I am NOT going to bend over backwards to please voters in order to do it! I want to do it on my terms.

Plan to take out my frustation tonight via camera and shoot Kitchenware, in my current mood, probably lots of sharp objects. Now don't go calling 911, I'm not going to hurt anyone!

Edit: typo

Bubbles are great :)

This was my last attempt at bubbles. I had no tripod in those days, and this garnered me a brown ribbon.

Sadly, you cannot. I've tried and failed. :/

But you can put it in your bio section with this code. Just replace the curly brackets {} with square ones []
{thumb}463637{/thumb}

Note that after you save, it'll convert that into a much longer HTML string.

In answer to who's in what, I have a splendid idea for bubbles. Or I did, until I read purplebutterfly's idea of opening champagne bottles. Now THAT would be cool! :)

I also have enough kitchenware that something will probably come to me.

Tomorrow morning I've got my last ever exam... Celebrations start from tomorrow afternoon onwards. Must involve:
-beer
-friends
-fire spinning

Just looked up what LLL is - sounds really good, congratulations :)

Snaffles, glad you edited the last post. We don't want to see any sharp kitchenware sticking out of b/f. And I doubt there's much opportunity for horse training in jail.
04/19/2007 03:49:19 PM · #463
True...well actually in some prisons they DO have the prisoners work with wild horses...and it does work. BF and I don't live together so no sharp objects will be sticking out of him.

Seems like the best thing is to keep brownie recipe on current thread to avoid confusion. Color and Purple, here you go!

Brownie recipe (can be doubled)

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup margarine (or butter if preferred)
1 tsp vanilla
3 tbsps water
*OPTIONAL* 1/2 cup chopped nuts or other foreign object of your choice

Sift sugar, cocoa and flour together into a bowl. Add all other ingredients and beat for at least 2 minutes (beater setting on medium seems best). If adding nuts or other foreign objects fold them in now. Pour batter into a greased 8-inch pan. Bake at 325 for 30 minutes. Let cool, cut into squares and EAT!

Enjoy kiddies! And let me know how they turn out!
PS what's LLL?

Edit: PS

Funny, I remember voting on this picture way back when.

LLL is the La Leche League, a wonderful pro-breastfeeding organisation that's been going for, well, forever.
04/19/2007 04:02:34 PM · #466
ok, i now have 5 very positive, including 2 glowing, comments on my landscape, with an under 5 score. (4.7 now)

I suspect you're right about that.

So, ignore them I shall, as I step out this afternoon to drop my Statement of Commitment in the mail to La Leche League Canada. Soon I will have a card in the mail that states I am an official LLL Leader ! It's been almost 18 months of work to get there, and I'm glad to be finishing the studying portion.

See, I read the comment on that photo and I think it was a fair comment to make. As someone who is as commited as you are to LLL you are unlikely to agree with such a comment, but please remember that disagreeing with a comment does not make the comment wrong, or hurtful, or mean that it was necessarily intended in a bad way. It's just what that person thinks.

WOW, I got a favorite on my landscape shot and it's doing terrible. Surprise, Surprise!

I agree with the rest of what you said, Jeb, but I disagree that a comment criticizing the subject is unethical or inappropriate, as long as it doesn't use foul language. I don't mean "your model is ugly," but rather the subject matter. But even "the model is ugly" isn't something to complain to the SC about, IMO. We have to be adults and accept that some people might not like what we shoot, not go complaining to SC to make it all better.

Kashi, you know some people don't think breastfeeding should continue past a certain age. How you react is up to you. Given your opinions, I suggest ignoring them.

Umm....actually, "The model is ugly." is grounds for disciplinary action here at DPC.....that was my point.

It is wholly inappropriate and unnecessary. If you want to attack the photographer, that just isn't nice, but attacking the model is just plain out of line.

And unacceptable here. There was a *serious* stink about it and you can ask any SC member for the specifics.

Got an example? You're making a very strong claim, so I'm curious.

If you mean the comments on "Cobra Charmer," I don't recall any actual disciplinary action.

Hey, just curious if Quiet_observation is every coming back or is it permanent? Couldn't find an update on either site. Just wondering, it would be a shame to see her go.

I have a picture of the kitchen in - er - the kitchen challenge. Remains to be seen if I can stand the heat :)

Deb, thanks for your very thorough and helpful comment on my landscape shot.

I have a brown ribbon contender in the Kitchenware challenge. Can't let those 6s go to my head.

The fave is way more important than the score in my lowly opinion. Excellent, Bob! BTW, I commented on lots of insect photos. Hope I got to some suckers - am really curious about JuliBoc's shot...
