I'm shopping for a larger monitor.. 19inch. (which is what I can afford)
I'm looking at the __Samsung SyncMaster 19" TFT-LCD Flat-Panel Monitor
Model: 192N ---
Anyone have any experience with this one? Colour, brightness.
I need to stay with an LCD,, because of limited space.
The viewsonic I'm using now, is too dark and won't get any brighter no matte how many times I calibrate and adjust.
I'd appreciate any suggestions on monitors in the $700 - $800 dollar range.
I've been back through some of the old threads and most of the models suggested aren't on the market around here.
thanks,
JC

I have the VP191b Viewsonic. I forget the ratings on brightness and contrast but I know it is very high. 170 degree viewing, also HDTV ready. I̢۪d check out the Viewsonic site for all the tech gibberish. Also check to see if there are any people that have bought it that have complaints. On Price Grabber they have personal reviews of most products. I bought it months ago when there were none. I like the small bezel design. Gives even more room.

I have the Samsung 191T (last years model), which is both analog and digital. I have two actually, both connected to the same computer but one analog and one digital. They are fantastic! I can't rave enough about the wonderful picture I get it both modes.
Moreover, I paid 649 for the first, and the $700 for the second, because you can get good deals on these from Dell. The only catch is that they are relabled as Dell monitors. But they are exactly the same externally and internally.
The reason to get from Dell is that you can get really good discounts, as they are almost always running a sale, they have stackable coupons, etc. When I bought mine, the 191T was $200 more, the cheapest I could find it than the Dells with discounts.
Go for it, you won't regret them! (The newer models also pivit I believe and move up and down, mine don't. But all the 191 series is wall mountable, which is also something to look at.
Regards--Neil

I̢۪d check Price Graber even if you don̢۪t buy from an online source. The reviews there are very instructive. Check out the monitor you were looking at. My Viewsonic I believe has one of the highest brightness ratings. I would go by the highest brightness plus high contrast. I got mine for around $625.00 on sale over the internet.
I̢۪ll check the on you were interested in now.
Be back

This is a review on the Samsung.
Strengths:
viewing angle, pivot option, thin edge, rotating stand
Weaknesses:
1 dead blue sub pixel in the first one, exchanged under special pixel warrenty. Auto adjustment settings not remembered for the various resolutions.
Summary:
I have this screen in front of me and it has a native resolution of 1280x1024, not 1024x768.
Viewing angle of this and other samsung screens is a lot better than some of the others you can buy today.
Screen works well at 60Hz, less well at 75Hz. Although you only see this on difficult screens e.i. checker board pattern.
I also found 2 for my VIEWSONIC but Im not sure it will transfer to this link. Here goes..

Strengths:
Beautiful text and graphics
Weaknesses:
None
Summary:
I purchased two of these monitors and use them side by side. The screen is easily raised or lowered to less than 1" from the desktop. Text and graphics image quality are as good as any 19" LDC monitor I have ever seen. No dead pixels on either monitor. Easily pivots to portrait mode. GREAT monitors!

Strengths:
good text and colors. Thats about it..
Weaknesses:
I warn you never to look at this monitor when there are no lights on you might go blind. This monitor is almost TOO bright
Summary:
IF YOU ARE INTO ANYTHING 3D AND GAMING OR ANYTHING DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT BUY THIS MONITOR. I have used a KDS crt that is about 3 or 4 years old and when I switched and got this 19" lcd i was PISSED. Ghosting is terrible and it got all blurry. ALSO as PRICEGRABBER says that it has 85hz at max resolution is NOT true. AT 1280x1024 i could set it to 75hz which is NOT worth 700 bucks. I wanted to return this monitor but viewsonic says I cant return it becuase they dont have a return program. If you want good text and pictures get this monitor..anything else..STAY AWAY.

Experience: 10 Days
Well. there it is. Probably not much help.
