I dont understand what the point in this exercise is. Unless everyone participates its not very accurate is it. (thats if I understand what you are doing). Also how do you update this if your score rises to next catagory? Do you have to minus previous score? I asked earlier but noone replied.

It's all just for fun. Nothing "official" or scientific about it. Usually a "scores" thread just has some comments, some scores posted, a little moaning, and a few bananas tossed in. :)

Scott posted the tally method (first time I've seen it) recently and many have picked up on it for fun.

..Then again, I have an excuse.
But I cant say what it is.
To tell the truth I didn't even expect to get that high..
Plus someone left me a rude comment and I want to yell at them. D<

Larry....I know that feeling

Monique, I quite like the tally idea, you of course are right in that unless everyone participates it does not really provide that much other than another reason to celebrate/build up expectations/beat yourself up about, but in theory it does let you get an idea of how you are doing in terms of others and neatly summarises other posts on the scoring thread (also meant to say I loved your spinning is my life last week....great first entry and at 82% you should be rightly happy)

Yes I see the fun in the tally. I have been putting my score into the spreadsheet to watch how I have been going. Thanks for the compliment. I was pretty stoked to come 29th out of 228 especially since there were so many great entries. I have an entry in Free study and contre-jour as well but the scores aren't quite so good.

Hey Rina, how are you going with that 7? I see by your profile you are closing in on that 5.8 average so you must be doing ok!

Close but no cigar Gerry. Don't think I'll get there, but it'll be my third highest score, so I'm over the moon about that!

You?

...but I have a FAV and a Jutilda comment (and she liked it lots).

I also have this really cryptic comment ... it's kept me thinking all day, so I guess it's been worth a thousand words in entertainment value:

"Anticipation. Doesn't really conform well to theme".... (strange eery music cue)

I'm hoping the ribboners will be in the 6.6-6.7 range, but I have a feeling this challenge will have 7.0 (and higher) entries.

There are not too many folks coming forward in this thread with 6.7-7.0+ updates. They probably don't want to jinx it.

i cut out being of sound mind will expose my submitted photograph to generalview it is don quiote within the red circles with a lot of noise

i am believe that VINCENTvanGOGH never ever looked back on his work
and said THIS IS REALY NICE
therefore knowing that by making this statement i will be disqualfied

you are coming through a bit cryptic -
but 'outing' your photo will not give it a DQ

BTW: VanGogh revisited his canvases when he ran out ;) he also did a great deal of over painting ....

Please remember this ain't art .. this is a virtual contest for virtual prizes .. whatever you do here doesn't matter in real life ...

Be sure there are LOTS of 6.6 to 7.0 pictures besides those posted here. Personally, I hope for a top 20 finish...

I'm starting to feel like I'm finally really making it at DPC! While I'm working on a personal worst in Contre-jour, and already planned to ask if I'd got it right after voting ends, I finally got my first "dnmc" comment. Y'know, a comment that only says 'dnmc.'

((PS - I'm not complaining, but I haven't gotten one before and was starting to feel like no one was even looking.))
