as i'm getting reading to make a soft focus submission, i'm wondering what the safest way to reduce the image size is - i would think changing proportions is a better way of reducing file size first, before choosing to save as quality 8 (as opposed to 12) in photoshop. but, does anyone have a certain opinion on which way would be better? is there even a noticeable difference?

This has come up a few times, and it seems the most common response is as follows:

1. Save for web
2. Change Image Size --> make the longest side 640 pixels --> apply
3. adjust jpeg quality --> move slider until it's about 145KB

This seems to let you use the least compression at the largest allowable size for a challenge.
