Bristol is a great place for photographing. The last DPC GTG I went on was there and it was a lovely place to shoot. Company was pretty good, too.
Maybe there'll be a GTG organised for the weekend after your wife's conference. Maybe there'll even be a midweek evening GTG in London. I hear that there is a couple of things worth looking at there, too.
Edit: Watch out for MAK, I hear that he's a bit dodgy

Plenty of things in Bristol to see :) I just only know a few of them, hehe. There's the suspension bridge, cathedral, many churches and old historic buildings, caves, docks, stuff :) Bath too, lots of old stuff, canal walk is nice, a nice city to look at too.

I was in Bristol for a couple of days last week, although I didn't have my camera with me, not that I would have had any time to take photographs :¬(
I only passed in the car, but the Docks area looked like a photographer's paradise. No idea what it is like nowadays, but Bristol Zoo used to be pretty good if you want something to do with the children. If the weather is fine you can take an open-top guided bus ride around Bath, and that way you can spot things to photo. You can hop on and off the bus as much as you like so might be something to consider. |

There's plenty of DPCers in the London area, I'm sure at least some of us will be able to meet up with you during that time. And there's definitely plenty to see here - see my profile for links to the last 8 London GTGs for examples.

I'm bring THE BIG BAG which holds the laptop & supplies and a small day bag (crushed flat & till need) ..
which lenses should i bring ?
(17-55mm is a given.. & probably the 10.5 for panos)
hmmmm.... i have to worry about having only a single bag of unchecked.. so the lenses/camera/computer stay with me !

Well as it happens Ralph the 7th is my B-day, I'll be 21 again so you can hit me up and we can have a shoot, I don't drink as a rule but you can get me a bag of chips instead mate. I live about 45 mins from London by car maybe we could either drive into city or maybe you and the kids may want to spend a day in the beautiful countryside around here then I can get you guys from the station and show you around the area.. I'll PM you my phone number then you can call me and let me know what you doing.. I have an MR scan on 6th June in the afternoon so might be out on that day, 8th or 9th would be best I think, be good to meet you and the family mate... |

hey MAK - which direction are you ? we are in Cambridge the first 5 days
near KingsCross station while we are in London (5th-9th)
my plans are relatively flexible (though we 'have to' hit some touristy sites and as you might guess everything we do depends on weather ;)
we decided to forgo the car while we are in London & only pick it up at Heathrow for second week..
think the 9th would be complex so lets try to do meet up on the fri (8th)??
I'll have email till at least the 5th so PM (or you should still have my email address -- I'll have to watch my spam folders ... get 100/day so things go missing occasionally ;)
