hi... my "blue moon" image (below) went from ~60 views to 460 overnight, and is still rising... this is now my most viewed image :-)

i was wondering if anyone knew if it was linked anywhere in the forums (or elsewhere). i'm just curious, since normally my stuff kinda blends into the background.

There have been several threads about this happening. One of my images "Camo Rooster" did the same thing. It got linked on Google or Yahoo thru another site, so tons of views overnight : ) No comments though, with 500+ views now. I think it may have gotten on a country crafts site or something like that.
It technically is a lousy image, as it was so dark in the original that I had to pump it full of light to be able to see it.

I was wondering the same thing about mine...

10,520 views in just over two months just blows away the next closest at 1,389...

which was a DQ from a year earlier that got a lot of attention.

I had the same question about one of mine...

Shows up if you Google Image "Canadian Navy"

It shows up a couple of times, funny thing is, it's on different sites. None are DPC!!!!

At least credit is given on the website. Better than someone stealing iy.

Thanks for letting me know about my shot posted on another site. I guess this helps explain the number of views.

Lately, a lot of DPC images have been showing up on other sites without credit to the photographer, or sometimes credit has been given to a bogus photographer. This is different in that the images on that website seem to be properly credited, and I certainly appreciate it.

From the bit I've seen, Stumbleupon is good about giving credit, because their reason for being is to share interesting things you've found and linking them for others to enjoy.
It's probably a good place to start when looking for the source of huge view numbers.
Congrats on being "out there" :)

Found 2 links to my images at StumbleUpon all with credits.
Great people at StumbleUpon!

I have been wondering about this one too, I can see why it gets a lot of views but still wonder if it is linked somewhere just can't find it.

I know it isn't as many as most of you all but still a lot for me.

I just had a similar experience...

I uploaded this picture yesterday:

and it has 379 views in less than 16 hours - and it's now my 4th most viewed non-challenge picture.

Strange...

I had the same thing happen to this picture. Over 700 views within a few days of upload.

Mine, too. This one went from 115 to 2100 in about 3 weeks. Still haven't found the culprit on where it is, and I've looked under porches, country exteriors, etc. I think next I will look under wicker furniture. Maybe somebody is using it to sell some chairs, but it really ticks me off that they might be using it for their own personal sales gain.

Edit: I just looked at StumbleUpon. They really have some great photos on that site. My image is not showing up there, but it is just one more place to bookmark for me.

So "blue moon" is now at 2000 views!!! granted, the hits slowed down this morning so it will likely be the normal trickle, but i'm excited by the attention. I'm still curious about where the views came from... if anyone has any idea i'd appreciate any info that you have.
