Well ive always had a really soft spot in my heart for animals, i get pretty bummed when they get hurt or w/e. Well today on my way to my friends house, this little thing (ferret/mink idk) runs out in the road and gets hit by the van right infront of me, the poor thing was like convulsing in pain i felt horrible.. It took what felt like a minute for it to die. Sorry for the random post, im just kinda upset :S Why is it i get more upset when animals die then people? Thats kinda weird..

I am the same way. I cry when animals die...but not when relatives die. I think that is normal for most photographers/artists...I can't explain it. Maybe one day I will. But for now...I am sorry you have to feel that pain.

thats kinda weird thing to ask lol, and no i dont :P nore would i want them.

it could be something to do with the fact that animals seem so helpless, and in some ways they are, and they are just trying to survive in the only way they know how. Humans tend (notice I said tend, that doesn't mean everyone) to look out for themselves without concern for nature or even other people.

If that was a run at being a comedian, it kind of fell flat. :P

At best morbid curiosity, but I tend to think a question like this is for the purpose of trivializing the op's feelings.

I was wondering if i should, but i just couldn't. I got out with my jacket to pick him up and maybe take it to a vet, but he died just before i got to him. While in the car i didn't know if he was seriously injured, or what, just some slight hope that it might survive. Thinking back now, picking it up might not be the best thing, it was probably terrified and may have bit me, who knows what it might have had. All the same it was a cute animal so that makes it all the more sad imo... I dont have as much a soft spot for like a snake dieing..

we're born to die.. so are animals.. however they depend on us for their protection and we feel the need to protect the ones that can not help themselves, basis human nature.. be glad that you feel, some would drive past without an after thought. i cry when that happens also.. dont feel alone :)

Sorry you had to experience that Shawn. I'm with you guys...anything bad happening to animals tears at my hear strings, but I seem to be much more hardened towards humans. It made me tear up a little just thinking about the poor little one.

That's interesting you say that because I was thinking the same thing the other day. I cry if a bird dies, but I can watch war movies.

That's ironic cuz I can watch dead bird movies, but I cried watching "Stripes".
