This looks fine on my monitor too. When I enlarge it reaaly big, there is a little red under the eyes, but it looks great. What an adorable child!

Barbara

PS On a totally unrelated note, I just got my first speeding ticket of my whole entire life. (^(%(^)(*&_

Ouch!!! don't you hate those!

Thank you all for checking. I SHOULD have used that for my Night Shot entry!!! It would probably have done better.

For real, Barbara? How IS that possible? But uh, how fast were you goin'?
04/11/2007 07:13:06 PM · #104
For real! I have been driving legally since I was 14, I am now a grandmother. Ack, I feel so ashamed....

I was going 37 in a 25 zone. $210... :-(

That's Highway Robbery, get it ; ) Ok, bad jokes aside. That's a horrendous fine. Did you have to pee or what?! (sorry, I think I'm really funny, but deep down, I know I'm not.)

Well this is the part I am ashamed about... I was driving my daughter and 2 of her friends home from a school function. I was distracted by their banter, etc. And one of the young ladies was not wearing her seatbelt (I soooo know better). That is a big chunk of the fine.

And one more thing, when you say "driving legally since I was 14", uh.... joy riding at the ripe ol' age of 13?

$10 fine for lack of a seatbelt here in Kansas. Talk about behind the times, huh?

Nope, just meant that where and when I grew up, they gave us drivers licences that young. I can not even imagine it now.

$50 of my fine was the seatbelt thing. Last I knew it was $35

They did that here in Kansas too. I'm sure that doesn't surprise you. But I was just teasing. Tickets are no fun. I had a friend down in Phoenix and got in a wreck. Her fault. They let her take a defensive driving course so that it wouldn't effect her record or her insurance. A record as clean as yours, might be something to consider.

For a little bit less than the cost of the speeding part of the ticket I can take that course. Keeps the points off my licence too. That is probably the way I will go.

Do you have to pay both the fine and the cost of the class?

No, just one or the other. $135 for the class, or $165 for the speeding part of the ticket. No way of getting out of the seatbelt part of the ticket.

Well at 113 votes my night shot is sitting 4.3.Right about where I expected it. But the comments on my portraits are all good. I think I may have finally gotten the monitor at home in a better calibration. And I am buying a copy of CS2 to get some of the more advanced tools.

Planning on zoo trip tomorrow to try to get some butterflies for the insect challenge, and a wild set up with my spouse (who's hair is as long as mine, and as light as mine is dark) for the Hair challenge.

What about the rest of you?

Anyone heard from Nutzito?

Spent a lot of time with my wife's "chains" entry last week, but managed to get one in for "Night" which is hovering around 6.

Wifey and I are fighting about insect rights so I'm not sure which way I'll be going this week.

Wow James! You're on a streak!

I am planning a trip to the zoo on Monday. They have a butterfly pavillion so I will be one of hundreds to enter a butterfly.
04/12/2007 07:04:15 PM · #117
I'm leaving the insects alone. Just finished a "hair" entry. We shall see... Hopefully the weather and butterflies will cooperate!

I've got to admit, I haven't shot anything for a challenge in a while. I have been shooting experiments. If the weather had been different and not snowing all the time, I would have done insects.

I haven't done a challenge except for a free study in a while also. I had full intention of shooting the chains and night shot, but my house was closing and I had to move. I can't say that we are all moved in yet, but we will be by the end of the month. Plus, we are going on vacation next week. So hopefully I will be able to shoot some weekly challenges next week. Regardless, I will be ready to go full force by the first of may for the WPL. Who's with me?

Speaking of the team and everything, when do we have to have the banner and "stamps" ready? I'm starting to get excited about this.
04/13/2007 09:08:38 AM · #121
My daughter will have a banner for us in the next day or 2.

I have actually just returned to DPC after taking a year off. I have been photographing, but strictly for myself. I will be ready full force for WPL though.

I'm happy to say I've readjusted from my foray into night photography and got out for my more usual early morning country drive-by shootings today. Now, if I can just find a decient landscape on this card...

My daughter and I are planning a little photo excursion this weekend. Hopefully we will both get something worth entering. BTW, my daughter is PaulinaRD.
