Congrats!!! Aren't new toys fun?!?! Can't wait to see pics ... I'm considering a wide angle and just haven't made the decision as to which one to purchase ...

It's a 200 $ difference. And the Sigma is more robust, too.

Ok, excuse my ignorance, but I have to ask.

You have a Canon Rebel XT, that used EF mounts. With the Sigma lens I see nothing in the name saying EF, only EX.

Are they the same thing? Reason I ask, besides ignorance, is that I am also in the market for a wide angle lens and just want to be sure.

The EX is the Sigma lens' name stands for "Excellence" and means it is a higher-quality lens. Most Sigma lenses are available for a variety of mounts, so the exact lens you get would be the "Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM for Canon" or "Canon fit".

So just make sure you get a Canon fit one (this applies to pretty much any third-party lens, e.g. Tamron and Tokina).
