Hey --
I've got a friend who wants to buy a relatively inexpensive (<$500) camera for someone for Xmas. They won't do much more than print 4x6s, but travel a lot and think a big zoom would be a plus.
I recommended the Minolta Dimage Z1. 3.2mp + a 10x zoom for around $400. Any other great little point and shoots that I might have missed? Does anyone out there have a Z1 that wants to sing its praises?

I don't own one, but have read several reviews, all good. I own the direct competitor, Olympus C-750, like the zoom and the flexibility. The Z-1 is pretty versatile, with a souped-up movie feature. I would recommend it to a friend like yours. I'm trying to get my boss to approve getting one for work.
