I took a class 2 weeks ago taught by michele celentano and she brought her camera bag - usually she just checks it when she flies...
Contents? 2-1Dn mk2, 85 1.2, 27-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 IS, 50 1.0, 16-35 2.8, 135 f2, a couple of 550s, misc cords, memory, etc, and a laptop. I estimated the value at $20,000. And she has one of those 200 1.8 lenses but only uses it 'at home'.
And just to top it off, she shot a wedding the night before school started and had a borrows 1D mk3 (the new one) from Canon for some testing - it was on a tripod with her 85 1.2 and got knocked over...yeah, the lens died a horrible death - but as much as it sucks to lose a $1900 lens, the $4400 body was fine and you always have other lenses with you, and she could finish the job.
But yeah, theft, or in the case of an unattended remote, it might be termed 'mysterious disappearance' and that is NOT covered by insurance. But no-one can steal it from of front of the bull shoot or from in the pool, right?
