So I want to make an old-fashioned sort of photo album for some of my Holga prints, and I want something with a black cover (a square cutout on the front would be great) and black paper pages. No plastic crap, I want the sort of thing where you have to paste little black photo corners onto the pages. I want this thing to be seriously retro to match the style of the photos - with the exception of the silver gel pen used for some brief notation. I've looked around a bit and have found nothing ready made for sale. Maybe someone out there knows of something? I'm of a mind to track down a scrapbooking shop and force them to make one for me. Any better ideas?

Hi, I photographed my sister's wedding last year and set the photos in exactly the album you are talking about. Got so inspired that I redid my own wedding album that's now 12 years old. Took all photos put of the plastic "crap" and reapplied them to the black paper.

Big tip - those sticky corners are a serious amount of work. also they are very difficult to align at neat 90 degrees. Then I tried the photographic back-to back adhesive tape, but they're not very powerful and on a thick album the pictures closest to the middle came unstuck. Thank heavens for the scrapbooking mania - I switched over to suing scrapbook sticky back-to-back adhesives. They work like a dream.

I got both albums from our pro-photo lab which stocks camera equipment and accessories as well. The lab is called "Orms" and they have a website www.orms.co.za

Yeah we're in the third world, so it would seem a bit odd for you to order from them, but they may have an import connection and be able to direct you to the right source.

Good luck.

you should visit the scrapbookin store but not to have them do it, not sure if they would anyway (you can find private people to though). You can get the 12x12 paper there that is a nice thick stock, even some with embosing or textures to it. They will have everything you need to do it and maybe even ideas for you.

My wife and all her friends are scrappin addicts so any advise you need I'm sure I can find the answer.

(oh and I know twopeasinabucket.com is not anyones favorite right now due to some women stealing our images but it is a GREAT place to get ideas, my wife visits it more than I vist DPC.)

Try Michael's or Joann's they both have similar styles to what you are looking for in the scrapbook section of their stores

//www.joann.com/catalog.jhtml?CATID=82023&PRODID=189004 is one

I have just bought some and used same very effectively. Basically kraft paper in a wire spiral bound book. Simple and nice. The brand I used was from Michael Rogers Press in NJ. But I cannot find them on line. But these are more or less exactly the same.
