Chances are the vast majority of people here aren't in the least bit interested in what's going on with the cricket world cup. But I felt that there will be some (especially the Aussies) that might like to know.

Sadly Bob Woolmer was found dead in his hotel room the morning after the team he coached had a shock defeat. Well the Jamaican police are now launching a murder investigation. Felt that some people might not hear this that quickly.

BBC says it's pretty certain he was strangled. Kind of puts a real damper on the rest of the tournament, even for those who don't follow the sport ... : (

That's the first thing I thought when his death was reported...pretty suspicious for it to be normal... I actually thought some crazy fans poisoned him or something.. horrible...

Well I am big fan of cricket & from India.
It's really very sad & shocking news in the world of cricket. The lot of money involvement is really ruing the this game & nobody is ready to accept the defeat with sport spirit. Even though as per as his murder is considered I think the persons involved is having some thing to do with match fixing point of view & not a cricket fan.
A big match for India today vs Srilanka & they are in do or die situation for qualifying further matches. My best wishes are with them. May better performing team wins!!

Hmmm, well I had heard about his death earlier this week and had my suspicions then. Thanks for the link.

Yip, I'm South African, we had some good results when he coached us. Really bad way for his life to end.
This puts the entire world cup to shame. Irony will be if the ICC decides to ban Pakistan from internation competition because of this.

Well today for some reasons I have to donate blood & throghout the process I was just wishing my luck for the victory of India today Vs Srilanka.
I am not writing this for to gain sympathy or impressing someone but just for showing how the game can help if taken with right spirit.

As for Woolmer's death... I think it has to do with some person Woolmer knew who lost a lot of money betting on Pakistan winning against Ireland. It could be a person connected to the betting world (a bookie) or someone involved in match fixing or simply someone who placed a large bet.

You must remember that the coach when the whole Hansie Cronje matchfixing debacle happened was... Bob Woolmer. I am not saying he was at all involved but he may have known people in India or Pakistan who were.
