15th place is a great placement and you got a good score going on too. But to help you with your question, here are some things that prompted me to give this image a 7 and not a 8,9 or 10.
Firstly, like bear stated earlier, the face is a bit dark compared to the rest of the photo. Perhaps using a layer mask in screen mode and selecting the face would help to brighten it up a bit without messing with the highlights that are already bright. And also addding the vignetting to help draw the viewer to the subject more.
Second, the coloring. It has a lot of yellow going on, kind of dingey almost. It didn't really appeal to me.
Thirdly, I like the idea. I thought it was really cute and the perpective as well. But it didn't make me say "Wow!" When I say "Wow" I give a 9 or a 10.
These are just a few things that prompted me to vote the way I did and a 7 in my book is not a bad score, it is quite good. :) I hope this gives you a little insight as to why some voted like they did or at the very least, why I voted like I did. As far as 1,2, & 3 votes, well just about every photo gets them and there are rarely comments left as to why unfortunately.
