if the phone has clearly been influenced by a person (ie, there is an action represented that could ONLY imply a person)but the physical person is not in the shot then it's DNMC.
i really didn't even think about it that way when i shot it. does that mean that shots wherein an ANIMAL or an inanimate object is "using" the phone are also DNMC?
what about those entries that are JUST a shot of someone on the street using their cell phone in the normal way? which, if you read the challenge literally, is DNMC.
since the idea was to take an interesting photo of someone using their cell phone. i don't find those shots to be particularlly interesting.

I put my pic in knowing fully that it would be dnmced.. no person... butchered alive.. :p
My problem was the person element wasn't working.. I wasn't going to enter but the test shots were looking good.. so I put one in cause I wanted to share the weird idea I had.. cellphone challenges don't come often you know..
Seeing my score, that's doing fab for something dnmc.. I can only imagine what it would be with the person element...

OMG! I hope this run of luck can last .... some VERY good shots I've seen that are WAY better than mine so I think this will be a high scoring challenge

Oh forgive me for being super noob to this site and asking a probably oh so obvious question. What does DNMC stand for? "Did not meet challenge"? I submitted mine entry 10 minutes before I had to leave the house yesterday and didn't READ the actual tagline for the topic. I like the photo regardless -- will it get DQ'ed (I know what that stands for - Dairy Queen).

DNMC - Does not meet challenge. You will not be disqualified for not meeting the challenge - DQs are saved for those who break the editing and other site rules.

You should be applauding yourself: my image obviously meets the challenge: cell phone in use, it's been well processed, clear, pleasing subject...and it's at 5.1???? Looks as if DNMC has no real effect on the scores - is just something people like to type...?

one last personal rant. . . of six comments, only one had to do with the actual picture. . .the rest were people who C&P the challenge description. . .you know, in case i forgot. . and told me "DNMC".
no comment. just that.
i wonder if they also voted low and gave DNMC comments to those pictures where people are present, but not actually USING the phone?
when i'm voting, i assume that, after the first few hours, if something is DNMC several people have probably already left those kinds of comments, and just i leave it alone if i have nothing more to say.

Not really sure what I should say about this... I got the comment that my image was "Lacking power to evoke interest through overuse or repetition" Mind you in not so many words... That is the definition of the one word comment given....
Tell the truth, I have no idea my idea was so popular it was overused... Lame maybe but what do I know.. all my images suck anyways.

Worst start ever at 3.0 after three votes. Fantastic climb through out the last 24H. Peeked at 6.77 currently at 6.66 (I wonder if that is a bad omen?) Probably ready for the slow slide down for the rest of the week. Still very happy, my personal best if it stays up there.
