I don't know if I've already posted in this thread but.... D80 FOR SURE!!!

For me, the lowest end Nikon that I would consider is the D200. I like to play in the snow, dirt and rain, so weather sealing means alot to me. Hence the Pentax K10D...

If you don't think you need the sealing, get the D80. I don't understand why you would want to switch from Olympus, as they are a damn fine company... but you gotta do what you gotta do.

For the record, dust reduction is 100% worthless, while [Pentax] in body Shake Reduction provides me with 2-4 stops effectiveness (with every Pentax lens ever made).

oh, what is so special about this lens everyone is talking about? I keep reading about it on the forums here every day:)

Basically, it's a lens that costs as much as your camera, hard to find, and turns your SLR into a point and shoot (no need to swap lenses because of range). Oh, it's got VR too.

Close enough?

I've just read some reviews, and this lens doesn't sound interesting. is it really better with one "all-around" lens than with several different ones?

Joking aside, the range is all you would need 95% of the time, and VR is a real bonus too for telephoto and/or low light. The only negative is that it's a bit slow, but VR helps with that.

The only thing you would miss is wide apertures, IMO.

For me it's the convenience of not having to carry around a big heavy bag where one lens can do most of what I want. A business acquaintance of mine has a Canon 300D, but she keeps buying P&S cameras that she's disappointed with because she can't use the DSLR unless her husband is with her to do the carrying.
