Folks,
Not sure if anyone has announced this yet (I looked really quick, please forgive me if it has) but the top Dugg article at the moment is a DP image:

Do you have a link to this DUGG? I have no idea what that is.

Damn it. I suppose that means a few more weeks of the DPC website crawling. Curses on you and your creativity, Hopper!

I like one of the comments:
"It's not either, there's no spouse.
It's shopped. I can tell from pixels and from having seen a lot of shops in my day." |

Of course its shopped. How else could Hopper have removed the keys. ;0 |

That's funny. I was just getting ready to post that same comment (the "It's shopped." one).
Did you read this follow-up?
"I fail to see how it is shopped.
But, regardless of my "eye" for shopping, think about it for a second. Why would you spend 1-? hours shopping a picture like that when you can get the keyboard from your closet and pop the keys off in about 1 minute? Don't lie, I know that all of you (just like me) have a shitty keyboard in the closet, even if you did rearrange the keys in Dvorak."
I like the part about "Why would you spend 1-? hours shopping a picture..."
Obviously, they don't know DPC'rs and the drive to show up on the front page. :D |

For fun, check out the comments. Be sure to check out the comment:

I guess they "dugg" it so much, they wanted to "borrow" his photo. |

Having read most of the thread at digg.com, I demand that the SC lock their thread before things get out of hand and Milo returns from his vacation to all this 'geek' talk.

It pisses me off that they linked direct to the image, and not the page URL. It means no recognition for Hopper, grr.

Well, at least someone pointed to the page link in the comments. AND they think his wife is hot ;-)

Yep, pretty lame. Someone linked to the page way down in the comments but who's going to read through all those comments? (well, besides us anyways) :) Looks like Jessamyn ( prozac) is gonna be pretty famous too now if you check out the other link to Hopper's "Hot Wife" page in that same post. :)

Three people have now posted links to the image here at DPC but not a single person has acknowledged. |

We've gotta prohibit hot-linking of images. It's ridiculous.

Maybe not showing up in Google image search... I'm not sure how that works... but then people use that to steal images a lot of the time anyway.

Well I can't speak for anyone else but I wouldn't mind if my images hosted on DPC didn't show up on Google Image Search. |

I would LOVE to see hotlinking blocked, at least optionally. If a user WANTS to hot link to their paid portfolio, perhaps make it a selectable option.
Of course that really complicates the code, since it's no longer just a server setting.
Or make it such that hotlinking redirects to the actual image page. |

That sounds like the best idea to me. Even allowing the option of hot linking, it uses up DPC's bandwidth with no benefits in return. No exposure for the rest of the site and no new members visiting.

I don't know how that would work with images embedded in a page, like if I were to post an tag instead of an . I think banning hotlinking altogether is the best idea, with the replacement image saying something like "Want to share this photo? We don't mind, just give credit where credit's due! Link to the page it's on, not the JPG!"

How would you do that? Set the server to reject requests for image files that don't originate from within dpchallenge.com?
