In that case, I know of two great spots to get shots like that and then I would say bring your widest angle glass along for the shots around the grounds as the place is huge.
Edit to add, That shot was taken the same weekend that you guys had the Fall GTG at Devils Lake. I was on my way home from the video job that kept me from going to Devils Lake.

your fisheye will provide you with some interesting shots. Holy Hill is one of the places I have slated to take some fisheye shots with my new 10.5mm

Your shot
Is just what I have in mind. Low sun behind me, golden light on the hills, trees, and cathedral. Wowza. |
Awesome shot dude!!

I took some shots up there last year with my 11-18 and could not fit the entire building into the frame. Hopefully this 10.5 will do the trick.

Sure. But remember if you put it on your 70-200 F4 you will lose the auto focus.

On your 5D, you'll want to borrow me or Dave's Tok 12-24, or my 8mm fish. |

I don't think we'll have any issues with the domes, although it probably should still be confirmed. I went there about 2 weeks ago and didn't have any problems with taking pictures. I don't think they'll let people bring in tripods, but it's kinda pointless to have tripods there anyway.

I am not that keen on carrying a TP with me all day anyway. Going to use it for the sunrise and maybe Holy Hill if we end up there. But the rest of the day it is staying in my vehicle.
edit: however I might bring along a compact tripod just incase...

What a pity, I will have moved back to Europe by then. Only 2 weeks to go! Agh, so much to do.
It would have been nice to see some of the same faces from the GTG in October last year. I guess I dropped the ball with the Chicago thing, too busy to make any further plans.

I had a lady at work sew me up a 12x12 bean bag that I use for my camera. It works really well for stabilizing the camera in different places. I've used it on the ground, on the hood of my truck, etc.

I have read something about the beanbags in one of the other threads not too long ago. It is something I have to give a try. My wife has a sewing machine that she needs a good excuse to fire up. lol

Anybody know where Mukwongo is?? How far away from Milwaukee is it, time wise, 30 minutes or less??

I would guess it is no more than 30 minutes. But I have never made a direct trek from one to the other.

I have a Gorrilapod, too that I'll bring if you want to try that.
