Disregarding Age...
If you find it 'AWKWARD' to ask someone to pose nude for you, than you are not ready to photograph a nude model.
(Still Disregarding Age...)
What you need to do is Grow up a bit, become a little more mature, and until you can ask a model to post nude for you without feeling 'AWKWARD' practice on something else.
Seriously, if you are not grown up and professional enough to flat out ask for what you want you have no right to do it.

i think in the eyes of many people (i'm generalising of course!) photography has too many elements in common with pornography for it to be taken seriously as an art.
don't get me wrong, photography IS an art ... but it's a lot more difficult for photographers, especially nude photographers, to be appreciated as artists.
in that light, the commonly perceived link between photography and pornography, it would be unacceptable in most social circles for a juvenile to photograph nude models ... especially since the models must legally be 18 or older (and older than the photographer too).
but by saying "hey, he's 15, that's old enough" you actually open up another debate altogether: where's the line?
15 is old enough? perhaps for many ...
what about 14? 12? 10?
so, then people say "well, it depends on the maturity of the photographer" ... that's an intangible criteria that can never be proven. i've met 30 year olds who don't have the maturity to shoot nudes ... and i'm sure there are teenagers out there who would do a brilliant job.
my long, rambling point is that i suppose there are too many variables for a concrete answer ... which means that most people will err on the safe side.
my advice is just wait dude. at 15 you might feel that you're ready, but 3 more years and there's nothing stopping you. that 3 years can be spent researching, practicing with clothed models, learning and perfecting your art.
3 years without nudes is a short wait compared to the 50 years you'll have to shoot nudes after you turn 18! :) use the time productively and concentrate on other areas of photography.

| Hey, when I was 10 I was already photographing playboy models, I don't know why all of you got such a late start, you're just jealous ;) |
