Not photography related, but everyone here is my resource when in doubt. This is directed at Mac users, but probably doesn't matter. I have a fairly nice digital keyboard, but the connecting inputs are Midi-OUT, right. Okay, with my Mac I don't believe I have a Midi-IN. Is there a connecting cable one would suggest to connect my keyboard to my Mac? My only idea is if there is a Midi-USB connecting cord or something...is this out there?
Thanks ahead of time, if anyone knows.
edit: When I say keyboard, I mean music keyboard, a synthesizer, piano, etc type thing.

I just did a google search for "midi to usb converter" and came up with a bunch of items that might fit the bill. :)

That's cool. I suppose I was also asking for and looking into personal experience, quality issues, reliable companies, etc...Is the midi-usb converter the best option? Perhaps there are not any musicians hovering around photography forums...haha.

I use pro tools and Logic with all my macs and I use a Yamaha UW500 that i got quite cheaply in Japan it has Midi In/Out and audio In/Out including line/guitar/mic inputs it works great (way cheaper than the pro tools version and better) I have made many songs using it and once I wrote a tune (logic pro) and sent it to NZ for the drums to go on, USA for some guitar riffs and piano parts and the vocals/sax was done in UK (I was in Japan) all done via MSN Messenger and Email... gotta love Midi.
logic is my favorite I guess, its easy to use and works without error nice plug-ins too and has great comunication with the Yam UW500. I paid 200 pounds for mine over 5 years ago I bet they are a lot less now, solid professional sound card. If you ever need anything Mac based for recording studio stuff, drivers etc just let me know.

| I'll just say that M-Audio makes GREAT quality products. Infact they make a lot of professional audio devices and sound cards. Altho, yes it is a bit more expensive. |
