I am making the switch to a mac finally. I am going to purchase the 24" iMac with the 2 gigs of ram and 256mb video card. My question is...Should I wait a few months in hope that the new Leopard OS system will come out and I also heard rumor they might be changing the design of the iMac.
This money is burning a hole in my pocket and I want it now!!! lol |

I'm basically in your same boat and have decided to wait. I really like the current iMacs and want to start utilizing Aperture (my Mac mini will run it, but just barely and dog slow). The Leopard release is just too soon, though and I'd prefer to get the machines that have been designed to run it, rather than shoehorning the upgrade into an older architecture. I can limp along until then. (But that's just me ;)

make sure you get a core 2 duo and not a cheaper core duo unit.
I have the core 2 due with 2 gb ram and it flies, Aperture is also very cool to use

Leopard is suppose to be out ~24th, from what I have read. Apple usuually will upgrade your OS if bought within so many months, also.

Based upon previous OS releases, any computer purchased after the date of the official announce-date of the next OS gets the upgrade for free. Unless you absolutely need it immediately, I would buy it once you know you get the Leopard upgrade for free (which should be by the end of the month).
Welcome to the wonderful world of Macs... you won't regret it... |

you should make this switch
i hope you enjoy your mac. I would use linux all the time if i was able to run counter strike on my lappy, but it sucks with wine. O yeah, and cs2 :P
