OK you Mac owners i am looking for recommendations for a External HD min size 250Gb. Must be 100% compatible with MAC OSx.
I have a Philips 250Gb, and it just keeps falling asleep when connected to the MAC. I think a new one is in order so what do you use?
Thanks
Darren

I like these drives, which add the convenience of a FireWire/USB hub. Note that you could just buy the enclosure and put your Philips drive into it.

I use both a Lacie 156GB and a 250GB firewire harddrives. No problems at all on both drives they work just fine and fast.
here is a link to the 250gb harddrive I have //www.smalldog.com/product/36056/ss
I think its hard to find now cause it is either discontinued or replaced by this one //www.amazon.com/LaCie-External-FireWire-Interface-300703U/dp/B000117D9O

| I went into the Mac store and spoke with one of their techies who put me onto seagate - He had many reasons for this - All I can say is they look good perform brilliant and I have never had a problem - He was mentioning many problems with the Liece ones they carry in the store. |

I have heard about problems with the lacie ones also but again been using them for years and never any problems at all.
So I suggest do some reading and if you get one just test it out and see how it works. Its wierd when I brought mine from the apple store they told me no such thing and that they were good and reliable. But I knew a few people had problems from reading on the net. So I took my chances and brought one anyway.
