The challenge is Time (in general), not Steve Miller Band lyrics. The description IMO appears to be a clever reference to Daylight Savings time (slipping into the future), which was the reason for having a Speed Challenge in the first place. :-/ |

I actually do not appreciate getting PMs requesting me to recast my vote. As far as I am concerned, if I can not see the connection in a photo, it is not my fault, it is the photographers.
Having people send PMs requesting changing of votes is one great way to ensure that people will not comment on images. My comments try to be helpful or observant. Giving a message that suggests that I don't see the connection with the challenge entry is intended to provide the entrant with some indication of why I voted a certain way.

you are kidding? right? |
Oh, I see! When it suits some people to avoid reading the challenge description, then we revert to the superficial interpretation of only using the title to define the challenge. Then... why add the qualifying description?
How many times have voters taken obscure interpretations from the challenge description and used it define the challenge in a much more narrow manner than the title suggests? Plenty of times!
Guess I'll have to vote based on how I interpreted the challenge, not how others are telling me what is "right", in their opinion. |

I don't see how Langdon's quote of a snipit from a song requires that images relate to that song. If that had been his intention he would have said "take a photograph that relates to this ... song" He didn't.

From past challenges, the challenge descriptions have been highly important. Are the challenge descriptions to be completely ignored now????
I'd like to know the answer!
If Langdon wanted a challenge wide open to any interpretation of time, he would have not included any extra description. And, that would have been really boring.... might have caused people to make images of watches and clocks! |

We got a Speed Challenge because of Daylight Savings Time: Time slipping into the future = spring ahead. Get it? Even if you made a connection to Steve Miller Band, there is NOTHING in that description limiting time to just those lyrics, and CERTAINLY nothing to suggest shooting only the lyrics instead of Time which is (literally) the challenge.

I thought the discription was a tad prejudicial.
I mean rooting for a particular member.

That is, indeed, your prerogative, much as it is everyone else's to vote how they interpret the challenge.

No, and I didn't say that. But to vote low and say all images that don't fit those lyrics DNMC is a bit narrow minded.

I am pretty new to DPC , yet i know that the challenege titles clearly convey what the challenge is all about.Somehow i dont find any mention of Steve Miller Band in the title. If you will refer to challenges like street photography and Beatles Songs you will find very clear mention of what the SC wants you to interpret here there is no mention of anything specific.
I believe the only reason the Details contain " Time keeps on slippin, slippin', slippin" is to pep up the mood and not be bland in writting the details , another thing to note is challenge is titled Time2 so u can look at the 1st challenge for reference.
All i will say in the end is that you have a right to individual opinion and as shuch you may vote based on what you interpret.
Happy Voting :)

I have no intention of voting low, unless the quality of the photo justifies such. And, I will simply add that to vote low on an image that conforms to the song lyrics and relates to time, but does not show a clock is the narrow mindedness I've observed, so far today |

I agree Completely!!!! I will vote on what I think the challenge describes, not what people are saying! So good luck to us all! |

yeah, I started counting them too, but got bored:)
and what surprises me most is that a watch/clock/whatever is just a thing which is supposed to capture abstract time in some kind of an easy to understand form and which is always wrong, becasue time is never the same. a watch is static and in itself, time is a memory.
:) sorry, I voted very high all the photos that do not have watches in them. |

Isn't that just as bad as voting low on those that do not have a clock/watch? I say vote on the quality of the photo!!

sure, I do, I do:) just an idea is much more important than any quality for me. but it's just me. I rarely vote lower than 4...
