Does this photo look "right"?

Nope - skin tone is way off. The background texture is barely visible too.
A little more definition of the shoes would help also imo.
(unless that was what you wanted)
- skin tone is an easy fix if you wanted it to look more real - select all of her skin, hue/saturation, shift hue a little to the right to add some yellow.

I'm not really sure how to do that. I am running Paintshop Pro X. Any suggestions on how to select just the skin? |

Hopefully someone that uses it will wander in, as I have no idea - never used PSP. |

what program lets you select the skin? |

Most of the Adobe programs such as Elements (I believe), and all the versions of Photoshop.
Do you have the capability of using a lasso or magic wand to select it? Can you make a new layer over the existing one, do the hue change on the reds, and erase back what wasn't? (grabbing at straws here) |

I played a few minutes with your original and put them side by side as a comparison:
(they may be over & under depending on your screen resolution)
I also brightened the background to hide some of the textures that were still showing through. At first, you may not have seen them depending on monitor calibration, and suggest looking at your original an extreme angle on your monitor like getting up above it a bit and looking down at the screen. Quite often you will see things you didn't straight on. I kept her skin bright and high-key to match the rest of the shot by the way.

Her skin looks much better! Thanks!
I did have photoshop elements 3.0... however we purchased a new computering running Vista and elements will not run on it. After contacting adobe, I found out that they were not making a patch for 3.0. |
