Last time I went out to this park I hiked for 3 hours and found nothing. Today, happily equipped with my long zoom, I found a Bald Eagle :-) We will not talk about how he flew right over my head and I didn't realize he was there till after he passed me!! He did sneak up from behind me, and I can't point the camera in all directions at once, now can I? This wildlife stuff is alternately frustrating and exhilirating!

At least he didn't leave claw marks on the back of your head like the owl that came up behind me did. Ouch! It was absolutely amazing how a bird as big as that could move without making a sound. evem when flapping to regain height after the attack.

OMG, with the size of an eagle's claws I don't even want to think about getting raked! |

there is no more exciting photography, imo than wildlife.
it is so fufilling and inspiring to find and shoot and watch wildlife! Nice capture, if you find a nest then you have a good spot to watch and wait : ) |

I wonder what the eagle will think of you sprawling in his nest going through his stack of NG... |

Didn't see a nest, but I did watch him perched in a tree, eating a fish. Too many branches in the way for a good shot in the tree so I just waited till he flew off and then got my shot. Will have to go back when I have more time and see what other vantage points there are. |

Uh, no, I don't think I want to be *in* the nest. I've ready mythic stories about people in eagle nests and it doesn't usually go well for the people. |

lol, well i was at the san diego wild animal park and they told me the gorillas liked magazines and one day they gave them a NG mag with a pix of gorillas on the front and took some pix : )
but i agree IN the nest or even in the tree is a bad idea
in wildlife photography rule number one should always be the animals is not disturbed to get the picture
