I'm looking to getting a Tripod head. But I was wondering whats the difference between a compact ball head and a pan tilt head.

Here are the two.

Ball Head

Pan Tilt Head

Both are about the same price. I shoot mostly landscape and some macro shots. I guess I'm just wondering whats the pro and cons between the two.

Thanks for your help

Im used to a Pan Tilt Head, its basicly what you see on cheapo stands except this ones a hell of laot better.

I have a mini Ball Tripod I use alot also. The ball is alot easier to use but id only recommend a Ball head if it or its clip in has a Dual Axis bubble level.

The ball head is much faster and easier to set where the Pan Tilt is more accurate in movements but has to be adjusted one axis at a time.

The pan tilt will work better on landscape. The ball head will work better for macro. If you just shoot "some" macro the pan tilt may be the way to go.
