After some of the bashing his name took I doubt he would want to come back. But then again maybe he will. I could care less either way. I don't approve of what he did. But it was not murder so I believe he has served his sentence and should be allowed to carry on at DPC if he wishes to do so. But not til his full year is up. Which is still a few months off if I am not mistaken.

I would cautiously welcome him back. I believe in second chances as long as they use it to regain trust. He's been punished, and now he must earn trust back. He was a great photographer and he gave great tips. However, saying that, if he were to start back in his old ways I would not ask him back again after that. I don't believe in the three strike law. |

Achoo - man you were whining about the basic rules for the grain challenge - now you're stirring the pot by bringing up that issue. Have you not got someone to heal or have you been disbarred? |

He won by large margins, large enough to not make a difference. D&L said so themselves, if memory serves.
I've told my wife about these goings-on (eventually), and as a result, when & if she votes on my entries she votes me down because I told her I don't want a witch-hunt to happen against me.
Pfft. :-/ |
Hey slipp..it wasn't JUST friend voting that cause Rikki to be suspended. Just so ya know, it wasn't a "witch-hunt" we don't do that. We don't have time for that, and frankly there are enough SC conspiracy theories around without this one. |

I do not think Doc is stirring the pot...I think he is just asking a question, testing the waters, so to speak.
Let's play nice :) |

It's a slow day. Plus I'm sitting on my thumbs until UPS arrives. But more about that in another thread...

I float in the same boat as bear...I too would welcome rikki back. he is an awesome photographer and offered alot to noobies (like myself). I learned ALOT from him both through emails and thru the forums. I miss his help...I say let him return..in what ever name he chooses. I believe most people will ignore him for a bit(if they remember what happened and still hold it against him)but they will eventually come around. Rikki and rose are two totaly different stories...

I would love to see Rikki back - although I never condoned what he did, I also never removed him from my list of personal friends over it. I think he has learned his lesson in spades.

I think he should come back. It wouldn't bother me any. When is his year up? |

Fine by me. I don't think he's likely to be a repeat offender, and I enjoyed his interaction in the forums.

Why was rikki suspended, anyway? |

He was helpful and always had a good attitude. His photography was top notch and would have done as well as it did without any "outside" help. After his time in the penalty box is up it wouldn't bother me to see him back, under the same name. |

July 31st. I'd welcome him back. He certainly wouldn't want a repeat performance of that fiasco, and the more really good photographers we have on DPC, the better.

I'd love to see Rikki back under the same username. Did the crime, served the time.

I'd welcome him back with no problem at all, he did the crime and will have served his time all ready. His photography is great and he will still have to live with the reason he was supsened so hey, I am a forgiving person.....

That would be at the end of July -- we were expecting him at the Berkeley Kite Festival last year. |

I feel like I keep getting quoted out of context. It's human nature to wonder. I never meant to imply that I would wonder if it was wrong by a large margin. just at all. |

I always enjoyed his participation in the threads, I was amazed by his skill, saddened that it came to what it did, humbled by his apology, satisfied with the suspension and ready to welcome him back into our community. |

Strangely enough, I was thinking about Rikki yesterday. About how much I liked his work and if he would be coming back after the year was up.
I would like him to come back.

I wouldn't throw a wobbly if he came back, but I would not hold the respect for him that I did before. I'd get on with things though. However, since his account was closed as per his request, not just suspended, I guess he wasn't planning on coming back. If he came back under a new account, that would be against site rules and he'd no doubt be suspended again for that.

Originally posted by DrAchoo: This isn't a trial balloon or anything, I'm just curious what the response would be if Rikki returned after his year suspension.
Is it forgive and forget? Has permanent damage been done so that his suspension was effectively permanent? Have enough new people joined to dilute the collective hurt inflicted? or would the old guard hound him wherever he went, turning him into another constant flashpoint like Rose?
What would happen if he came back under a different name? Would that give him a fresh start or would it just look like he was trying something sneaky?
I know that whole mess was a black mark in DPC's history, but I also know that Rikki provided some great photography and was (until the fateful event) a respected, liked, and valuable member of the forum society.
I'm just looking for discussion and opinions here. I don't even know when his year would be up. |
I feel Rikki made very positive contributions to DPC as a whole and was very saddened by his exclusion, but understood the SC reasoning.
Rikki enriched the site greatly, both with his selfless participation and his imagery. That should be accounted for in the allowance of his further participation.
I believe in rules and abhor cheating. How do you deal with a violation, if only one of support for a great photographer? I do not know. Cheating should not be condoned or encouraged in any way, shape or form.
All I know for sure is that DPC was a better site for his participation than it is now without.
I would like to see him back. His identifier matters not.
