I'd consider it a badge of honor that someone thought enough of my image to question its authenticity within the particular rule set.

There is no disrespect intended. Everyone is treated equal. You would get the exact same message if your image finished in the top 5 at the end of a challenge as well. The 48 hour request is simply to stop voting during the voting week or reduce the probability of having an image disqualified after the results are already posted.

Anyone can request validation of an image during voting. Some people make a lifestyle of making validation requests. Regardless, when a request is made the site is obligated to send out the request, no matter how rediculous.

Everyone is treated equal. That should comfort, not anger.

I kinda agree with Vasc. I don't think it needs to be sugary or anything. Even if it is ended with "Thanks in advance for your cooperation" or something like that. The current message spells out the why and the implications if you don't validate. Thats fine. Just a little more on the thanks for cooperating on the validation request would be nice. A tweak rather than an overhaul. Of course I've never had a validation request yet. It might be because etch-a-sketch is valid under all rulesets. =)

As for indicating who requested the validation? No way. I am already wondering when SC is going to send me a nasty-gram for my validation requests. I don't think I abuse it but you never know when they might draw the line and offer a beating...

Since this is a suggestion thread, why don't those of you who think the message needs changing post your alternative wording. I'm pretty sure that is more likely to get a result than suggesting that someone else "do" something.

A follow-up email would be nice regarding confirmation of receipt of the requested original.

However, it does show up under your image on the home page (by your score, etc...) stating something like "Thank you, your entry is being reviewed...".

I also feel that at the end of the voting another e-mail should be sent stating the original request for the validation. It would be interesting to see if the same few people are asking for the majority of the validations.
.
I do think it's only fair for the photog to see the reason for the request and who was the accuser. After all, most "legal" systems allow the accused to know who the accusser is and what the possible crime was.

Yes but knowing why ur image was requested might give you the upper hand in trying to get past a DQ.

It gives u the chance to modify your editing details (supposing u didnt post them in the description beforehand) in a hope to not be DQ'd. Chances of it working are slim. Only after the decision is made or the image is confirmed valid should you be let known why.
