This is something that has never come up for me before. But a friend wants me to do a family portrait, and possibly some individual ones as well.

Right now - my only knowledge of where to get photo prints is by uploading to Costco or WalMart - but there has to be a better option than that.

Totally new to me, I haven't even got a clue as to where to begin looking, or what I would need to do to get better quality prints done.

I've been extremely happy with the quality and service at Mpix.com.

They arn't the cheapest place, but the quality has been excellent and consistent.

You might want to check them out.

I use them for my County Fair submissions.

The more people that run the machine...the worse your chances of getting good prints time and time again. Look into camera stores that print. They usually have one or two people that ever touch the printer. Mpix is good. And I hear that with the explosion of online printing, many local "professional" labs are welcoming every day Joes to print there. You might spend a few more pennies than at Wal-mart or Costco...but you get what you pay for.

ETA: Look up print shops in the phone book if you are going to stay local...if you want online, just use google. And read reviews about online printing places. Search the DPC site for Mpix or whatever other online print sites you find. There is a good chance someone here has used them and has had something to say about them.
