Evening Ladies and Gents :o)
I haven't been 'in to' photography all that long really and up until recently I had just my Kit lens and the Canon 70-200mm F4L, both of which have served me very well! But! I have been 'lent' the lovely Canon 100mm F2.8 Macro to play with for the month and I am just starting to get my head around a whole new world! Macro photography!
Thought I'd share the first few days of the month with you and hopefully get some pointers!
Would appreciate any helpful hints and tips you guys might have! :o)
Thanks for reading :o)

Looks like you started out on the right foot.
Something that helped me was to use the smallest fstop..ie the highest number on the dial possible for your light conditions.
Instead of using f2.8...increase to f11 or higher if possible. This will make your DOF larger and give you more room for error in camera movement!
Also...if your camera supports it, take your flash off and fire it from the "side" of your subject. It brings out greater detail...
Much to learn in macro...post more when you get them.

I myself am wanting some warm weather, today my macro ringflash arrived and I'm wanting some macro action bad! I took a few samples today just to try it out. I really like it. I can shoot in lower ISO and still have great light. A few sample images.
If you ever get the chance to borrow one and try it out, you will fall in love with them. I know I have.

Edit to add your photos are very nice, but I would suggest going to a f16 or so to get more DOF.

Hi Matt, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! Am told the 'flashes' proper name is MT-24ex Macro Twin Lite Flash....it hasn't been taken out of the bag yet....I don't feel I am 'qualified' enough to even begin to use it! :o(
Here's todays poor attempt from me...
