Nice getting to know you, Lea. Left you a couple comments and picked up a couple favorites. :)

Today's interview is all about Ribbonhog-to-be Darren Brooks, aka Brookied

-What brought you to Team Suck?

MMmmmm.... I wanted to belong to a Team first off. i entered to improve and what better way than to learn from a team environment. Also what i did not know was the team atmosphere that Team Suck had. I would have gone to any team but am i glad that Team Suck and the OOFers took me in. Sure i am :-)

-Is there any secret kinky meaning to the name "GoldenEye"?

Yes.........No not really. I love James Bond. Love the films and thought it would be a good name when the Team put forward a bunch of names. Team vote and Goldeneye won out.

-What would you be willing to do for a blue ribbon (use your imagination)?

i have really tried to come up with a funny and witty response and nothing.... What would i do for a Blue, Get a very DPC friendly shot in as i think these do best. If you think out of the box these by their nature do not fare well on the site or in the voting patterns.

-How did becoming a father change your life?

WOW.... I could trot out the old lines of "It made me mature" etc...but i did not mature. I am still a kid myself, a very big kid. Truth is i have not changed that much. Of course I would give my life in a heart beat to saves his. Any parent would, but being a father is the best thing i have ever done. Dylan is a joy every day. Very well behaved, very polite, but can also be a 4 year old brat. Dylan is above everything else in my life. The best thing for me is the feeling of walking in the door when ever i have been out be it for work or photography and he runs up to me every time when i get back, throws his arms around me with a smile as big and bright as the sun and says "I love you daddy" there is no better feeling.

-How did photography change your life?

Photography has given me a steady outlet to my creative side. I have always been a creative person, drawing, photography, a spot of painting. Photography lets me be free to express what i see and others may not. Photography also help me a lot after the deaths we had in the family. 3 people died in 13 months both my Grandparents whom i was very very close with and Jodi's sister who was very young. This hit us hard and was the worst time in our lives but we got through it. Photography helped me and kept me sane. I put a lot of time into it and got a lot out of it.

-How has the weather been in Ireland this Spring?

Warm, which is strange as Ireland is known for the rain, it's why the place is so green.

-You find yourself at an ancient burial mound and realize that you have the purple power amulet in your back pocket. Do you use it to resuscitate an ancient Celtic lord or do you save its awesome power to impress Mr. Saatchi in your interview this afternoon? Please describe either your photo session with the Celtic lord (laird?) or your interview with Mr. Saatchi.

i think i might go with the Celtic Lord. My photography set up would then focus on action and battle that the Celtic lord would have been involved with. i would be after the action shot, mid sword swipe, contact on the body with a mace, blood spewing in a scarlet spray. Yes this would be a great shoot should i myself live through it.

-What's your favorite lens? If it had feelings, what would you say to it to let it know that you appreciate it?

As it happen old faithful at the mo is my Kit 18-70mm. it's as near glued to the camera at this point. Street shoots, Night shots, sports anything i throw at it it just keeps delivering the shot i want time after time. What would i say maybe from an employer, employee standpoint, "Kit, You have worked well for me over the past 2 years, dependable, solid and never let me down. But be under no illusion i need more and expect more in the coming months ahead. Keep up the good work and by the way your increase of 20% pay has been approved so back to work."

-How do you decide when something should be in black and white and when it should be in color? Can you give an example of an image that was a difficult call?

MMmmmm good question. I am trying to shoot everything i can in B&W, I am trying to build a collection of shots that represent Dublin with my view. I also note that B&W seems to be dying out in an age of digital photography so for my small part i am tryng to keep B&W alive. An image that springs to mind would be

I had spent the morning with a clear view of what i ws after, B&W shots street style in Dublin. When i got this shot in a B&W conversion for me it just did not have the impact i look for. Colour works for this, the blue sky, light trails and colour of the lights on the stone all work well together. No matter how hard i tried the B&W conversion just did not work. Some you win and some you lose.

-Pick an image on DPC that you wish you had taken.

Outstanding shot. the motion in this is something i am working towards. As it happen my ND filter arrived last week. and my infared arrived a few weeks ago so its another direction and challenge for me to try these shots.

-What image on DPC best represents your mind?

The emptiness here really reflects whats is up there in my head.

-Describe an aspect of a DPC photographer that you aspire to, give some example photos.

i have to say the imagination and thought process behind the shots of scalvert is way out there and so far ahead of most DPC'ers. I try and study his shots and their setups. the area i need to most improve upon is my planning and creation of a shot. My head just can not come up with some shots so i have started a little file and keep any ideas i have and any ideas i see in a small hope of getting shots like the below.

-Pick any one of your photos and tell us about it, and tell us about taking it.

This shot is the most important shot in my portfolio, for those that don't know the story here goes. My wife is on the left, Pamela centre and Kymmie right. This was the last shot of the three sisters together the morning before Kym and Pammy went to Turkey on Holidays and also the last time both myself and Jodi saw Pamela. Well 2 weeks after they returned home Pamela died suddenly. She was a fun person. lively always on the go. 2004 was supposed to be such a good year for her. Exams were passed, She got engaged, bought a house that was completed while she was on holiday, passed her driving test and then it all came to a sudden end. She had died from a brain hemorrhage. On that Sunday she dropped the boyfriend to Football practice, collected the papers on the way home, then collapsed while talking to the neighbor. This was a hard time for my wife and for the entire family to have such a life taken so young, she was 32 years old. Pam was buried on my wife's birthday, not something she wishes to ever celebrate again. The only thing to say is that while time heals slowly we try and move on but never forget. This shot is here to remind me that at the end of the day a poor score is a poor score thats it, Try to win but if you dont, dont worry about it as your family will be there always and thats the real prize. We love you Pam
