2007 Aug 28: Total Lunar Eclipse

Bumping this thread to bring you this reminder from NASA about the total lunar eclipse coming up later this month -- their description makes it sound like an outstanding (maybe in a field late at night?) photo-op.

Since the moon sets while still totally eclipsed, I've got a location scouted out where I can attempt to add to my ponderous collection of moon-capitol shots:

or I may go for something totally different. Either way, hoping for clear skies that night.

Interesting. I was already looking forward to August 29 because the moon should rise directly behind the U.S. Capitol. Maybe I'll get a less hazy view of this:

Now I'll have to be awake at some ungodly hour to get the eclipse the night before.

I'll see your "ponderous," Strangeghost, and raise you a "bloated." ;)

I was getting ready for this... but my cameras have been stolen and aren't likely to be replaced before then. :( Hope someone else gets some good photos of it though!
