Was wondering what experiences people have had from buying used equipment from B&H. I didn't even know they offered this. I was searching their help section and couldn't find what kind of return policy they had on these items.
EDIT: Found it:
All used equipment is guaranteed to work, regardless of its cosmetic condition. Used photo equipment is guaranteed for 90- days from date of purchase and has a 14-day return privilege (less shipping). Used Video/Imaging items come with a 30-day "Parts and Labor" warranty, excluding video heads, and may be returned within 7 days for a full refund (less shipping).
OK, how about experience now? Do the items live up to condition billing?

| I used it once to buy a battery pack for my flash. The pack wouldn't charge which was a bummer because it was alot cheaper than a new one. it was in fine cosmetic shape as discribed, just didn't work. I called them up and they were very good about taking it back no questions asked. I then just went ahead and ordered a new one through them and the credit from the used one that didn't work went towards the new one. So I guess it was a bad experience because it didn't work, but good that they stood to their word and took it back and refunded my money. No this one incident wouldn't keep me from trying it again, there would just need to be something listed in there that I needed. |

| My boyfriend bought a lens from them and loves it. If I remember correctly, it had the highest possible condition rating or close to it, and it is indeed in excellent condition, almost like new. Just a wee bit of worn finish paint. Purely cosmetic and it's on a sort of exposed rim, very easily scratchable/rubbable, so I think it would be hard to find one without that type of wear. |

I purchased a camera bag from the used dept at B&H. It wasn't quite what I was looking for, but the condition matched - it was marked as a 10 and it was brand new (or at least appeared that way to me, tags, warranties, etc...).
Returned it without any trouble (except for being out of pocket on shipping charges). |

I'm looking at a lens, but am a little weary as you wonder if someone returned it because they felt it was a "bad copy"...

I bought a used 50mm 1.4 in 9 condition ... it wasn't too good, and had focus issues
:(
BUT - they returned it for a full refund 33 days later ... no questions asked
I think my story is rare, though, regarding quality. I've also bought bogen tripod legs used from them and they were great |

I bought it. We'll see how it goes.
