I'm the proud owner of a new 70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM lens. I finally decided on this one as I rented a 70-200 F4L over the weekend and although a great lens I couldnt justify the extra $600(cdn) for the 70-200 F4L IS, and hopefully my guilt over purchaseing it wont make me want to return it :P

Oooh, congratulations.
Be sure to post saying how it compares to the 70-200 (since you've used them both)!

Im hopeing to get out at noon today to shoot some pics at my fav park so hopefully Ill be able to make some comparisons between that and the 70-200 F4L I had as just before I took that one back I went to the park and pretty much shot everything I could think of :D

I also purchase this lens, you will love it. Heres an example of it at full zoom, handheld. The "IS" is great with this lens.

the only real downer so far is I wanted to get a hood but its like $65 for this little bit of plastic and there are bigger hoods for 1/2 the cost...

Well So far I can say that this lens has exceeded my expectations and impressed me more than the 70-200 F4L.
Got some great pics with it in my 30 days of where you live challenge :)
