All I get is a "Service Unavailable" error page from the server.

Did you try going to the URL printed in the lower-right corner? |

I'm too impatient to do that, I see a blank page and I'm gone.

Yes, some great stuff there, but no clue as to the castle.

My first guess was Masada, but I thought it was flatter on top ... |

I'd agree with GeneralE. Looks like Masada to me

I'm 99% certain it's not Massada, but it is more than 25 years since I visited... |

possibly somewhere in the south of France, in/around Provence? Kind of reminds me of Roussillon, but I don't think its there. The url in the corner links to a France-based website. |

The first thing that came to mind were the mountain top villages of Yemen, one such town is called Kohlan. |

After comparing a few pics found online, it doesn't look like your pic is Masada. I would like to know now, too!

Right, Masada is flatter on top and looks out over the Dead Sea plain, not a valley ... Masada from the air

I've magnified it way big, and it looks a LOT more middle-eastern than it does south-of-France to me. It's definitely not Masada. For some reason I'm wondering if it could be in Algeria, also...

This is Masada: Masada

Does look a lot more arid than south of france ... maybe north africa? At any rate, I found the websiteit came from, and its pretty fascinating -- there are thousands of aerial shots from all over the globe, and you can search by country or region. I couldn't find this one after about 10 minutes of looking, but had some fun trying! |

This has got me going now! I thought possibly somewhere in Italy or Spain, there are a large number of monestaries built in hilltops in those regions. But almost anywhere from France to Turkey are also options.
Hurry up someone and find out! |

Well, here's a link to the image on the photographer's Flickr site.
Doesn't give anymore info on location.

Amazing what 57000 adroit idle minds can do in under an hour.
Now, where were those WMDs? |
